Opinions of OMP's strut tower bars???
Gentlemen,
is there anyone with their strut tower installed here?
Is this a new or newer product? I don't remember seeing it before. http://www.ompwins.com/html/page9.htm
I'm currently pricing a rear strut tower bar from Spoon, JDM and Mugen. I had almost decided on the Spoon because it's the least expensive, "I know. just rub your noggin in amazement, a Spoon piece is less!?" But, now I just saw the OMP rear strut tower bar for $100. less than the Spoon.
They are a good company I know.
I'm interested to know if their bar is better, and or maybe the better buy?
Thanks guys,
A.
PS I'll stop whining about hating my Alpins now, they worked very well last night and today.

no first hand experience but the quality of the bars in the pics looks first rate. really good price too... hmmmm...
/me scratches head and dreams of a rear bar

Spoon is overpriced. IMO a strut bar is a strut bar. They all mount the the same place and they all do the same thing. You can make an equally effective unit with some bar stock steel in your garage for $30.
Cobra - Who will NEVER pay the inflated Spoon prices as long as they aren't the only company around.

Consider a cheap bar such as Pilot Motorsports. I have a front one (finding a front strut for G2s with ABS is quite a lengthy process), and the endlinks are decently engineered (no apparent flex points), and it costs $45. I'm almost positive that they'd have an ITR application.
However, the bar is aluminum and you may demand steel. If so, look somewhere besides OMP, Spoon, Mugen etc. because even $100 is far too much.

i personally have the OMP bar in my car... i think it is the strongest tower bar that you can get...
if i wanted, i am sure i can stand on the bar with no flexing..
the price is the best price of the bar. i wanted a spoon bar, but the omp is more functional over the spoon
any questions, feel free

The overall minimum amount of benefit you will see from this bar is not worth paying more than about 35 bucks for. Sorry.
<edit> grammer sucks today...yikes

the omp bar mounts closer to the struts the struts than the spoon. there fore, has a lower CG. the spoon bar is raised in the air.
the omp bar has the similar effect as if you welded a round bar inbetween the 2 stuts. also since it is has a lower mounting point, it makes it stonger.
like i said, i can stand on it with minimal flex. if you stand on a spoon, i guarantee you will have atleast a +-2" of flex travel. i once saw a dc sport in a hatch, and that was bad for flex.

The OMP is a nice bar, don't have one but have seen them in person. Either way you wont be noticing any real difference with any of them IMO.
BTW, the spoon bar mounts like an inch above the strut, I dont think that's so high. At least it mounts to the strut bolts.
OMP makes both front and rear strut bars. I've seen both at Driver's Edge.
The front strut bar is very nice, made of lightweight aluminum and is adjustable for preload (to a certain extent). It is silver (aluminum) colour.
The rear bar is tubular steel and very light. It requires trimming of the rear plastic around where the strut mounting points are. The only piece that I've ever seen in person was bright yellow in color.

I have the OMP bar (dc chassis) but haven't been able to put it on yet. I currently have a spoon rear bar (da chassis) that i plan to replace in favor of the OMP one. IMO, 1 pc bars would be more sturdy than the 3 pc one. I've already had the spoon bar rattle on me. As soon as i get the OMP bar modified, the spoon bar is gone.

What's the difference in the bars that mount ON the strut tower and the type that have their own seperate bolts(like the factory Honda and Acura bars)? Is one design stronger than the other.
