H-T, help me decide! BC 3+ or S2S2 cams?
Here’s the deal, and why I need your help guys. I was planning on running BC stage 4s, but apparently my mid range and low end will suck **** with the compression I will be running. You can get equal performance out of the stage 3 and stage 4s (till you go past 8500RPM then the 4's kick ***), but aparently only if you have a 12:1 or higher CR.
I really wanted a cam that would make power to 9K, but I will only be running 11:1 compression (later to be 11.4:1 after I get some flat head valves). So that means the Buddy Club 4s are out of the question for me (I came to this conclusion after reading this post regardig a JDM B18C5 & BC 4s:
"I've already built a setup like this in a 1.8 configuration buddy club stage 4, and we had to jack the vtec up to 6400. it was way over cammed. lost a ton of tq, it had good top end. but it was definetly a few steps backwards.. stick the bc stage 3 plus.").
I’m willing to go with the stage 3+s, Im just sad that I wont be able to use my full RPM potential since they fall flat on their face past 8500RPM.
It has since come to my attention that the Skunk 2 Stage 2s may be what Imlooking for, but I have no real experience with them. They give good midrange and upper as well as make power past 9K RPM (according to the sales guy anyway).
So does anyone have experience with a similar set up to mine with these cams? Any dyno charts or first hand experience when dealing with any of these parts? Perhaps you can think of a different brand/stage of cam that I should be using? Any help would be appreciated.
Oh and my mods are:
B18C5 bottom end
B16A2 head, w/ omnipower valve springs/Ti retainers
Mugen thin head gasket
12lb flywheel
JDM ITR header
test pipe
RS*R EXMAG cat-back
Skunk2 intake manifold
65mm throttle body
uberdata P28 w. OBDI conversion
AEM CAI
B16A2 transmission

I swear, if I had a nickel for everytime you post questions about your "set up" I wouldn't hafta work. Pick somethin, make up your mind, and DO IT. Damn man.......I guess good luck with whatever you do, you should have everyone's opinion by now......
On the B serries shootout RND using Crower stg 3 also with only 11:1 CR and make crazy top end power @ 9200 peak HP...
Im not sure since i never deal with crower camshaft , but i think crower was also nice cam according to RnD winning motor results

no, these are shot peened and coated, plus they are much more stiff. These springs are good for 9K RPM and above.

S2S2's will give you more top end, BC3+'s will give you more mid-range. M22's, like the guy above suggested, would also be a good cam choice. Personally I would go M22 or the S2S2, but thats only due to my driving style and where I personally would want the power at.....
looks like im going M22 or S2S2, probably the S2S2 because I can get them for 635 shipped WITH cam gears VS the 750 for JUST the M22s, + tax & shipping (less rocket can lower the price a bit, but this is what he quoted me).
