*****____I'm making this an ongoing project journal. Enjoy.____*****
or
I don't really care either way.
Yup, being fast comes with a price tag. Turbo blew its oil seals and began to spew oil into my pipes. Turbo basically was dying. So I went ahead and removed turbo and pipes. Since they were off in order to clean out all the oil I decided to paint the pipes a nice shiney black.
Here is a few Before pics and hopefully in the next couple days I'll post more and more After pics. I took WAY more pics than what i'm posting. I would host a whole **** load of pics but with 56k it takes too damn long.
Car before with ugly charge pipes.

Waiting to be put back on.

Took turbo off and began disassembly process.

Look at all them cute lil parts.

Hopefully when its all said and done my lightweight lil CRX will be making near 200 horsepower and a lil less than that in torque. I just need to work out a few tuning bugs and I should be getting into the 13's in the quarter mile. Assuming my clutch can hold and I can get traction.

Yea... jcwhitney I know. I'm no noob haha. I know I could have done it for under 100 bucks but instead I chose to go the under 30 route. College freshmen here so I decided money could be spent elsewhere.
Now can we lay off my ghetto pipes

-I'm using a TDO5H 14B. And yea... definitely less than 12 psi.
-Currently I am running a chipped ECU. Many thanks go out to my friend Rory. I don't even know his name on HT. "maximumstrength" maybe? Right now I am running his basemap which is off in a few places. Hopefully by next summer I will have a wideband and then the real fun will begin.

My return line was a 3/8 oil safe rubber hose. Now it is a 1/2 inch rubber hose that has a much bigger ID than the previous 3/8 hose. Its the red kind from Napa. Its really tough and hard to kink.

UPDATE:
My rebuild is complete. It went well, and I no longer burn oil. I also know how to take a turbo apart.
Everything looks cool and I'll post up pics when I get back to school.
The next project on the rex: welding up a new dp
In the latest Harbor Freight catalog this particular welder has been marked down even more. It has gone from 200 to 119 to now most recently 79.99.
http://www.harborfreight.com/c...44567
Its just a flux core wire feed welder. Online the price is still 119 but i called an HF store a few minutes away and they said that they would honor the price in my catalog.
I'll pick it up tomorrow and screw around with it. That leaves me just enough time to get a hang of it before I go back to school.... which means I won't do anything productive with it until spring break.
This thing ought to be ok for making 3" dp for my turbo. I'm thinking of making "whitey bends" (some guy coined the term on HMT). Where I can use my chop saw on a bunch of straight pipe and weld it all back together. I can get any angle I want AND practice my welding on something that I really don't care about appearance wise.
