16 gauge sheet metal. notice my beautiful welds

thermal coating (bbq paint)

i've noticed more mid to top end powa on my jrsc gsr
my previous setup was a modded intake arm to stock are box and comptech filter. i also had a dryer hose routed to the box.
p.s. anybody have welding tips to get a good bead. i have a lincoln weld pak 100. what type of pattern should i do to lay a nice bead, zig zag, semi circles?

It states that in the installation PDF instructions in the recommended upgrades section (last two pages). It mentions not to use any aftermarket foam filters and try to stick with the stock one or an oiled K&N. On the new JR website though, it seems like have removed the installation instructions page so I can no longer access the PDF files online.
Perhaps they are referring to non-oiled foam filters. If the filter you are using is preoiled or uses oil, then it should be okay.

here's an idea....
weld the inside then use seam sealer on the outside, then you won't be showing off the shitty welds you get with flux core. Not ragging on you, all I've got at home is a flux core mini-mig too

Heres some Picture of my setup Made out of .0625 alum sheet and 1/4"x1/4" alum angle. there is a AEM filter in side the box , The box get air fed around the head light and from a scoop in the bumper. Ran it at gingerman and the box stayed ice cold the whole time

Just a suggestion to make it look better with the tools you have. Bend the sheet metal to make different facets instead of welding each facet to the rest of them. You could probably have gotten away with making 3 welds this way.
