shaved moldings are cracking
i have a 95 ex coupe with shaved moldings and theyre starting to crack. the way they were done was sanding it down to metal, then layed down fiberglass bondo, then regular bondo. its been less than a year and theyre cracking now. i asked one body shop and they said they would re-do it welding sheet metal. then a different body shop said that fiberglass was a better way to do it. what is the best way to have shaved moldings w/o them cracking in the future?

whats wrong with shaved moldings? most people with JDM front integras do it. does that make it wrong to shave a civic's moldings?

integras neither except for type r's. why don't all GSR's keep their moldings the way the car came from the factory? why do some USDM integras have JDM front ends?

Shaved moldings and other stuff (windshield squirters, antenna's, etc...) can surely clean up a cars demeaner, but unless its done right (i.e. WELDED) then it'll never hold up.... which is why you make sure that if a body shop is actually going to weld the stuff up before u get it done.
There is a body shop local to me that does great work at decent prices, but in my quote process for my Teg, then I asked if they were going to "mud" up the stuff or weld it and he said they wouldnt weld it, so I walked...
Pay to get it done right the first time, or it will cost you more in the long run
Another instance of get what you pay for.

if it was just filled in the past .. maybe you have a chance and go back to stock and throw some moldings back on there....
that would be best for you to know its not gonna crack again and that the new owner wont have no trouble with it considering your car is for sale
