ok heres one for ya. solve this
ok i install my tack all the wires r in i got the ground in and the green to the blue wire on the distributer. so i turn on the car and it's idling at about 3 grand. so i'm like oh i haven't cut the blue or brown wires yet to calibrate for my 4 cylinder. so i cut the blue wire first turn on the car and its now at 6 grand idle. then i cut the brown and its at 9 or 10 grand i dont know my tach only goes up to 8 and it was way past 8. so y is this not reading right?
come on this is really annoying having my tach in but not being able to use it. doesn't anyone know anything about tachs?
its an autometer tach. sport comp monster tach. and i have been to the website. its says absolutely nothing about my problem

this is what happens when you dont read the instructions..and yes the website does explain it>>> in the instructions which you can download..
go here http://hp.autometer.com/instru....html
and download the instructions.. you will notice it tells you how to make it work properly... hope this helps.

Clearly you don't know how to read an answer or instructions; because cxSHOE gave you the way of finding your answer. Put the Blue wire back together and cut the orange wire.

these are the colors that come in ALL auto meter tachs.
gray > goes to engine ground
white. 12v dash dimmer switch>>> or connect with red wire to have it on all the time
red >>12v positive
black> negative battery ground
green >> to to coil tach signal
orange & brown control your cylinder type
so yes there is an orange wire... you have to look for it... maybe you have to take it apart or the other person cut it off... but it will be there.

so then how come my instructions that came with it say nothing about an orange wire? and theres no grey either. just white red green and black. the 2 wire loops sticking out the back r blue and brown.
oh and if u go on autometeres website in techtips under 1-4pulse question u'll see that the orange wire was replaced with the blue as of may 1st. so there is no orange wire in my tach
Just throw it away and get a pivot tach or somthing, autometer suck and there so ******* huge (screaming RICE)
. Or hey just keep the stock one, it works fine (+/- 150), especially with a stock d16y7.
