are new and old b16 speed sensors different?

yo i need a picture of a vss (speed sensor) from a b16 not on the car. is there a difference between a 99 b16 vss and an older one?

just about any electronic speed sensor from any b series tranny will fit. Earlier models were mechanical. I have a spare one in my garage if you need to get a hold of one cheap.

parts #8 and 9.

as said below,all manual electronic VSSs are interchangeable.auto ones may also work,but i've never actually used one to confirm in a manual tranny.

the vss i have on my b16 tranny has a metal peice on it. it does not look like this

does anyone know what year tranny the one with metal right under the sensor is from?
