Default clutch review - Action 2MD in a d16y8

today i finally installed my new clutch along with my act streetlite flywheel. asking around to the knowlegable people on this board , they said to look into the action 2md as it would most likey be the highest hp and tq holding single disc for the y8 . my goals are 400whp with the sohc so i went with the 2md. i later on found out the 2ms was a sprung disc...but today i found out that an unsprung disc isnt so bad . anyway the pressure plate and disc looked very nice . packaging was real nice and wasnt just thrown together . the kit comes with the pressure plate , disc , aligntment tool , pilot bearing and throwout bearing . and of course a couple of stickers . installing the clutch and flywheel were strait foreward . finally got everything done around 8pm and got to take it for a spin . first impression i felt was pedal feel . it feels real nice and was surprisingly light on the leg for being unsprung . pedal feel is gradual meaning it gets harder as it gets closer to the ground . but im very happy with pedal feel. the clutch grabs like a fat girl grabs a twinkie....but is very forgiving and can ride the clutch depending on the situation . not like an on-off switch at all. the only real drawback i found today was the amount of chatter in first , but i asume thats a normal 6 puck thing? anyway if your considering a clutch for a higher horsepower car . or a stock car **** action has clutches to suit all needs . i seriously recoment action for your next clutch.

cliff notes - action 2md clutch is the ****!!!!!

i have a couple pics of the clutch installed i will post tomorow or the next.

Im running the same clutch, i love it, its harsh as hell at first (especially going from stock to 6 puck unsprung) but it kinda breaks in over time. And yes it does grab harder than a ****, before the turbo install i could chirp 4th gear with a stock d15b

Action makes top notch cluthes. Much more linear/gradual pedal feel than ACT. Heres mine!!!

I love my 2md also..It was harsh at first, now its nice and smooth. No chatter though anytime.

Im at 300whp and no problems at all. It still feels really strong, like it can hold a ton more.

2md gets and from me!

Yup, it's an awsome clutch, good price too.

Your's doesn't make that horrible screeching noise if you slip it? Mine does, well only sometimes. .

mine does that and its a 1ms (6puck metallic disc sprung).
for some off reason, mine engages really high (almost before you let off the pedal) and it slipped at the track. i broke it in too...
i guess i had a bad experience (maybe installer error).

I'm sure almost all 6 puck clutches chatter, especially those with solid hubs. My old ACT 6 puck disc would chatter with my ZC setup.

Its just something to get used to I guess.
