Default Ok,some poor employee of Acura is going to DIE...read pls

I am going to attempt to not rant here. Some of you may know I have had my car at the dealer being fixed for transmission problems. To make a long story short, the dealer has had my car for 8 weeks. The problem was suppose to be the input shaft bearing came apart.Whatever,I ended up having to fight it out with them. The end result:I pay labor($670)They cover parts.
I just got it back last night. It has now a total of 47 ,driving like an old lady, miles on the new transmission.I just got back in from a trip to blockbuster and what the **** do you know?It is now doing EXACTLY what it was doing when I initially took it in.The car won't go into to gear without forcing it.When I release the clutch in nuetral it act as if it is still in gear and about stalls out.It won't come out of gear without forcing it.
Here is what I ask.If anyone here has had anything similar to this happen to them or anyone they know please give me ANY input.I don't know yet but I may have to take legal action. There are two things that make me sick 1.)Our cars being stolen 2.)Having to be at the mercy of ignorant $3 per hour acura mechanics and their monkey service managers.I know some of you on here work for Acura and if you aren't stupid this should not offend you.If you are on the same level as the incompetent ***** that ATTEMT to work on my car you can suck me

Please be more elaborate on what the car is doing. What does it feel like, sound like? I am having trouble with my car as well. I took it in and they replaced all of the clutch components, and it is stilling giving me trouble. My thought is an inputshaft bearing as well.

Ok,the initial problem was this.Making a horrible noise.A metal on metal sound. It got quite when the clutch was engaged.Takes serious force to get it in and out of gear. When siting still if I release the clutch quickly the car will almost stall as if it is slightly in gear but not enough to stall it.If I release the clutch slowly the rms will drop and fluctaute. It idles low until I push the clutch in.
The only sympton it doesn't have now is the sound it was making.Everything else is the same.

First of all take a deep breath...ok, now what you need to do is call Acura Customer Relations Dpt at 1-800-382-2238. Explain the situation and be ready to provide what happend, the dealership, and the managers names. Get as many names as possible let them know what happend and how upset you are(just dont yell, but if you have to do so). Also, tell them that this is your 1st honda and that you have always had Toyota and probably never getting a honda again if this continues.

sounds like a bad spring in the clutch pressure plate.
did they inspect the clutch at all?
I would suggest that you check it out.
those symptoms were exactly what I suffered from.
a spring in the pressure plate was loose in its place and banged around a bit, loosening even more with every drive. it made shifting a bitch and also had a metal noise that wasnt pretty. soon enough I couldnt even shift at times, and the metal on metal noise was almost a metal ring bouncing inside a can or a bad-bearing kind of noise... rustling metal *****ies, not good.
All of the noises usually went away when the clutch was engaged, unless I was at high rpms cruising town, the noises came back then as well.

as far as no nose now for you, I dunno. but sounds like a clutch problem... and I hope it is because they are much cheaper than a tranny!
that SUCKS goat nuts that they did not fix the problem. my best wishes to you, really.

I concur with owen. This has happened to me a couple of times and the symptoms you are describing sounds exactly like what I experienced when the clutch disc springs came loose.

Please keep in mind that it is very hard to diagnose a problem via the internet. I may not be right on this. But, if I was to bet on it. I would say it is the clutch disc springs.

Good luck

Are you going to the Motorola Cup race in Daytona this year?

Kenji,Yeah,I will be at the Motorolla cup.I wouldn't miss it.As far as the clutch spring goes. That is all fine and dandy but if these *********** think I am going to pay a dime to have that fixed they are sadly mistaken. They can call it abusive driving or whatever the **** they want. The damn clutch only has 5k miles on it.

Acura dealers are just parts swappers. They don't know how to diagnose problems that are out of the ordinary.

I had engine problems with my prelude after I went in for service once. What happed was the technician forgot to replace the head gasket seal, and oil was leaking everywhere! I took it back and when the same technician went to check the problem he accidentally broke off the bracket where my distributor attaches to (by leaning on it). Well, that part was a mold off of the head cylinder. The technician argued with me and said that my car was old (92 4WS) and that it was due to old age; it "was in a weakened state". LOL! Basically he was trying hard not to replace it. In the end I called American Honda CR and they ordered the dealership to replace it. I was treated like a GOD after that...

You got good advice...call American Honda CR. They will treat you well.

I've had a rumbling/rattling sound in my drive train for quite some time. (Maybe 10K miles... I have 41K now.) It goes away when I press the clutch pedal in, and comes back when I release it. It makes the most noise when the engine has little or no load on it, like when cruising, or decellerating. I also hear it when the car idles, and if I press and release the clutch, when it re-engages, it slows the motor down. Not enough to stall, but it is noticable.

So, I took it to the dealer, and the tech told me he had just gotten a memo that said to be on the lookout for clutch disc springs. They had a tendancy to work loose and fall off the disc. So, they replaced the disc, pp, t/o bearing, and flywheel. When I went to pick it up, he said one of the springs was a little loose. However, when I drove it home, nothing had been fixed. (Did the guy even drive it to see? ) The only reason I wasn't livid is because I now have a new clutch, and it was done under waranty.

I drove out to see a tech from another dealer (Lt. Dan on this board) and he agreed that there was still a problem. Furthermore, he had also gotten the memo about the clutch disc springs.

I am dropping it off again at the first dealer on Thursday for a second look. I am going to recommend they open the tranny up and inspect the bearings on the input shaft. We will see how it goes...

Edit: It is also getting harder to put into gear. And when I release the clutch in neatrual at idle, the revs drop, but then recover. Is this normal?

Uh, wtf. Why are you paying for just labor? Sounds to me like the dealer might be pulling a scam on Acura and getting double payed for labor. It should be all or nothing unless you're out of warranty and this is a goodwill gesture from Acura.

Call your regional rep and see what's going on.

Ahh.....damn newbie techs. Made me nostalgic of the first couple days when I work as a pc technician...

granny smiling: "Hi, pumpkin(I was 16), I hope my computer is ready to pick up..."

me: "Mrs.Xxx, I am sorry to inform you that your machine is infected with a very contagious virus that pretty much ate up your entire mother board.

granny: "oh dear! What can I do now?"

me: "Well...the only way to overcome this problem is by replacing your motherboard, we carry a fine line of mainboards, the Asus are nice and cost around $140, the Abit......."

In reality, I was still learning and I stuff her modem on to the slot while the power is still on.....= FRY!

I pretty much do a search of all Acura dealers around town to see who is the best...I picked the ones that have "Acura Precision awards", which means lots of positive customer feedbacks. So, if they dick with me, NEGATIVES! And they care about the feedbacks alot here because we have many Acura dealers that compete in our city....I am really scared now to find anyone to do work on my car...Maybe we should start our own survey of which Acura dealers is good or bad.

Do we all have to attend tech schools so we can rest assure that our cars can be served right?
