Default Transmission fluid additive

We all know about the syncros problems with the ITR tranny. Since I track my car a bit it's only a question of time before I'll get the same problem. So I've been thinking about ways to avoid this problem before it happens to my tranny as well.

I just came across a product, Omega 915 - Gearoil additive, which seems to be higly recomended by many people.

It's made by an Australian company and similar products have been used in industry and boat engines for many years with great results.

Anyone tried any of the Omega products?

Never heard of it, do you have a link so I could read up on it?

Also... If you change your MTF every 5k miles or so It would help the tranny to last longer and might give you an inside look to what's going on...

You dont need additives.

And dont use the honda MTF junk either........ I use Motul Gear 300 and couldnt be happier with it.

I thought MTF was supposed to be quite good? How is the Motul oil better than the MTF?

Its full synthetic, does not break down and shear like the honda MTF - which is just 5w30 motor oil with a few additives.

I use the MTF-II. What's the difference from normal MTF?

MTF = good for street and light track driving.

hard track driving = flush it often or use more expensive fluid.

you still use MTF don't you Will? what do you classify as 'hard track driving'?

-jeff, who has seen enough pics of will on track to think he doesn't qualify as light track driving'

I change out the honda MTF after every 500 miles or less. That stuff just isn't that great for the track.

MTF II is good enough. It's an upgrade of MTF and they say (dealer) that it's synthetic. They don't have that in the US.

I still think I'm going to use the Omega gearoil additive. Can't hurt.......

A friend of of mine has shot all his syncros in his ITR, and the car is only at 115k km. Don't want that to happen to mine (or at least I can hope )

How do you know it can't hurt? Wrong additive can make it worse!!!! It's possible. Maybe it's not compatible with MTF-II additives....

Well, I don't.... But it's not that cheap and comes from a reputable company. But it's no way to know until it's been tested.

You know of other additives that actually make things worse?

I know that gear oils for VW or brands are not suitable for Honda. They use different additives....
You should ask Omega if it's suitable for Honda gearboxes.
