GSX vs. ITR??
DSM's are not comparable to the ITR in terms of handling, braking and overall car/driver feedback. In a straight line, DSM's have a lot of potential in the 4g63, but suffer from a bit of a diet problem. Its hard to tip the cars under 3000lbs, and once they start moving, the drivetrain loss takes away a lot of their get-up. A DSM would be an appropriate drag car, but not suitable for track duties, where the R excels.

stock vs stock the ITR will win in the quarter mile...iv never lost to a gsx stock for stock...i got header/exhaust/kenji ecu vs my friends gsx with full exhaust/afc/intake/tuned...i have him by a car in by 4th gear maybe a lil more... but a heavily modded gsx are differ stories but stock for stock the type r passes in 2nd gear... well for me it does dont know bout any one else
stock for stock, its close, but with 200 bucks in mods on dsm, gsx runs ~13-14 quarter mile. ITR runs between 14-15 stock(high 14's probably). Once again your comparing apples to oranges, in anything besides straight line you kick dsm ***. Most roads aren't a straight line, they have curves and corners. I had both cars, and wouldn't trade my R for a dsm, even if you gave me 15 grand(about the amount of money I dumped into my POS DSM).

Take the ITR to a racetrack (not a dragstrip or an autocross) and you'll spank the GSX.
You're close to a lot of tracks, like GingerMan and Putnam Park. Sign up for track events with CGI Motorsports, NASA, or BMW CCA. And go to the ITR Expo 5 next May!

Stock for stock an ITR is faster in a strait line. In a drag race your gonna get burned off the line, but you should be able to make up the ground. From a roll an ITR is flat out faster.
If your friend just has a boost controller without any supporting breathing mods you might be surprised at how little it might do.
Running open header + removing PS belt = boost controller on otherwise stock DSM

Why not an Autocross Ken?
Some of the best spankins I've given to a GSX were at autocrosses, and in SM to boot. Some of the few 1st places I took as well.
I can't however ever remember seeing a GSX on a road course.
But there are some that petition GSX's for Nat's and do very well.

Ya think?
Some in the past for certain were experience.
I am by far Not a great autocrosser. But the trophy 1st was a hint different. He was more experienced, and had more trophies than me and took a class seasonal win in the past.
I'm so insecure that I always credit my car before me.
And I take the blame when I fugg up.
The car never does any wrong.

It IS after all the easiest car in the world to drive fast. In trouble? Mash the gas! (That's my favorite part)
I've seen GSX/GST's do pretty well in autocrosses. It's hard to say (different tracks, different drivers, etc.) but IMO the ITR is a stronger autocross car. Past national results back that up, but again that could be all driver.

I can't say I had a GSX but I did have a '97 GS-T and it was just as quick and definately had more torque.
This thread is pointless, but I still don't understand the "question". You're into autocross so I guess you want to know which is quicker in that environment and it's hands down the ITR in a totally stock form.
Ok, now lock...

Okay, that too.
Okay, that too.

stock for stock it is a drivers race.....most of either car runs 15.0-14.7 in my experience.
as you can see by the vids 13.2@99mph tells me that car is hooking up. a 99mph trap in a R the best you will run is 13.7 or so.
DSM's are awesome cars if you maintain them. I am more of a straight line racer(flamesuit on) and the ITR is a great drag car. strong motor, LSD, short gears, relitivly light weight.

I own both right now. And stock for stock, the ITR is faster. As far as overall response and handling, the ITR wins hands down. I couldnt imagine road racing the GSX. Even with aftermarket suspension on my GSX, it doesnt have the same great feel of the R. The GSX is so much cheaper and easier to mod though. My GSX mods include a big 16g, 3" turbo back exhaust, 560 injectors, fuel pump, front mount, and SAFC, and the car is now capable of low 12's, and hopefully high 11's on my 18" rims and street tires. It is definately great from a stop, but gets a nice challenge from turbo hondas that are done right from a roll.
Anyone know that guy that hits up Summit now and then in the Maroon GSX? The last time I saw him he broke something real bad and made like 3 or 4 laps spewing oil right on the line...
