Default Review: Password JDM strut bars...

Okee dokee, I won a set of front and rear PasswordJDM strut bars at this years Expo listed at a $500 value. I think I was one of four people that won the set. I had the stock front bar and a Spoon rear bar installed so I thought maybe I'd throw them on for a while and sell them as I didn't need two sets of strut bars and I've always liked the looks of the stock bar. I was super stoked about winning the bars and figured I'd make a couple hundred bucks off of them.

Well I recieved the bars this past Tuesday and upon initial inspection I knew there was no way I could part w/ them. These bars are gorgeous, the craftsmanship is top notch and the finish is just amazing. So I did something I never thought I'd do, I replaced the stock front bar

The PasswordJDM front bar is a one-piece aluminum 3-point Carbing/Rigid style bar made to fit USDM cars, it mounts on your two shock towers and against your firewall. The rear bar is also a one-piece aluminum bar mounting to your two shock towers. These bars are amazingly light, I'd say 2-3lbs. each. Yes, they're that light and being one piece they shouldn't flex at all

The front bar was a bit of a pain to get in, you've got to do some pushing/pulling/moaning/crying/swearing/moving to get it in but nothing you guys can't handle Took me probably 30-45 min to get the front in. The rear is a breeze, 2-3 minute job.

Soooo I thought "well I've installed a nice looking set of bars and I'm pretty happy". I took the car for a drive and to my suprise there actually seems to be a noticeable improvement w/ these bars. Turn-in feels sharpened, not dramatically but I could tell a difference. The rear feels like it may be stiffened a little but not noticably over the Spoon rear bar. I have an autox tomorrow so I'll give you guys a little update afterwards, maybe I'll feel more of a difference out on course.

Well that's it, I recieved a free set of bars and ended up loving them, I'm super happy w/ them and I can't tell the PasswordJDM crew thanks enough. If your looking for a set of strut bars definitely give these guys your business, they make nice looking, functional bars and they support the ITR community.

Big from me to http://www.passwordjdm.com

Oh joo want pixors???? Two to start I'll upload a few more when I get home (I'm at my folks on dial-up right now). Enjoy homies!

I like the matte black finish

But why the trapezoidal cut over by the firewall? ITR-specific clearance issues?

very nice,

i wonder if the 3 pt will clear the older larger style 94-97 master cylinder reservoir

and i'd prefer it be raw aluminum , like the carbing

I never knew the 94-97 had a larger style reservoir. Does this apply to the ITR as well? (Assuming you have a GSR and were basing it on that.) Thanks.

Probably after mine, since I'm closer to Password than you are. Except I'm closer than WV, and I would have expected mine to arrive by now...

Oh well, hopefully in the next few days!

A rear strut bar would be nice if it didnt cut into storage in the hatch

Especially for those of us who need that room in the hatch to haul our track tires and other gear to the track.

Anyone else see a grammatical error?

Also, that front bar looks really nice, but too bad it is illegal for almost every soloII class out there (besides M and P).

Okay, couple more pictures, enjoy.

The finish on the bars has kinda a gold flake to it, really nice looking. I think you can see it better in these pics.

Should be its, not it's.

its = belonging (the ITR and its handling characteristics)
it's = it is (it's the handling that makes the ITR great)

I guess I'll have to sell mine. I wouldn't want strut bars with a typographical error on them...

take you take a picture of the brake master cylinder with no spoon cover on it? i want to see how close it is to the bar, if you could hold a 25 cent quarter next to it, it would be even better

take a look at this pic...i have the identical setup and my track wheels stacked vertically, fits perfectly between the roll bar and the strut bar...it actually is great bc they don't move around at all

there is still plenty space aft of the strut bar for the rest of your stuff
