Affordable Titanium Rods for B18C and B18A/B from OmniPowerUSA

There will be a couple exciting products coming out in 2005. Here is one of them.

Ligthening the reciprocating wieght by 200 - 300 grams per cylinder in Honda engines have netted 15whp+ at 9.5k rpms and above.

Rods are precisely forged to increase strength and minimize finish machining. Rods are hardness tested to assure maximium strength and resistance to shock loads.

Target price is ~ $990 / set of 4

Wow thats some neat stuff!

200-300g per cyl doesn't net any power increase lower than 9.5k rpm?

No, but if you maybe able to modify the LS rods to work for D16 apps.

i wonder about them, titanium is very brittle, i would be kinda nervous to consider these

Most titanium is not brittle and actually "springy" by nature. (ask anyone who machines Ti, they will tell you.)

Good thing about Ti is that it also exhibits "unlimited" fatigue strength meaning they it can go thru an indinifite number of stress cylces without breaking if the stress are below a certain amount. Same goes for steel.

Acura Nsx factory rods are titanium.
