05 type s first impressions....
well the car was finally deliverd today....been waiting 3 weeks..... 2 miles on the odo.... now it has 42...
the car is actually for my wife, however, we will share the s2000 and the type s. i have an 89 hb that i drive to work....
she has been driving a base rsx for the past 3 years, and decided it was time for a new car, and she wanted the newer model...and more power ( got to love that )
well i drove the car for about an hour tonite, trying to keep it out of vtec....at least for the first 600 miles.... very hard i might add, i have a lead foot...
i must say that i am very impressed...
i have owned two type r's and realize this is no type r but it is very good... much more refined, very good...
i have driven the 02 type s and can tell a difference between them. i think the biggest improvement made to the 05 is the final drive.... it really feels like it has some low end grunt...
i had the ats 4.9 fd in my r and will probably sell the 4.7 in the 05 and get the ats 5.06 for the new car, and will add an lsd....and flywheel
i flogged it around a few corners , and cant wait to get it on an auto x course... or road coarse...
i think that the suspension improvents are a step in the right direction... and could be improved upon with a lower vehicle height...
of course the stock tires suck, and i cant wait to wear them out and get a set of azenis 225 * 45 .....
the new seats are nicer than the old leather seats, bolstering is tighter on the sides and the leather feels thicker and less likely to wear as fast... although they sit a little to high....
i really like the white face guages...looks like they sit a little deeper in the cluster...
oh, and lets not forget the new exhaust.... sounds like it has a little more growl to it
the exterior changes are nice, i like the new headlights w/ the black housing, the taillights arent that bad either, and i like the hatch spoiler, its a nice touch....
i dont know that the dc5 s will ever be as raw as the dc2 r, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, it definately feels more solid and the extra weight is not that noticeable......
now, if it were an r version i may be saying differently, but if this is our taste of the dc5 r that we get in the U.S. ........ i will save room for seconds....

Nice. I'm still waiting to test drive one. We have an 02 Type S, and I love this car, and the 05 looks alot better as far as the suspension/motor/tranny updates. I wasn't aware that the seats & guage cluster were updated as well.
a couple other things i have noticed about the car....
aside from the better side bolstering, the seat bottom cushions seem to be softer than before...
i.e. like the dc2 r where they were softer to take some of the edge off of the firmer suspension.....
a few other little changes that i noticed were.... the hvac controls background trim is a little different, and the drivers vents are color matched to the background instead of black....
just cleaned it thoroughly today... i told the dealership that i did not want it washed because it is black and i want to make sure it gets no swirl marks...
on that note the new plastic black trim that seperates the rear bumper from the lower valance holds water in the cracks... kind of a pain but not to bad....
while washing, i also noticed that the brake calipers are now painted/coated with something instead of bare metal.....
put another 40 miles on the car today, so the 600 break in miles are getting closer... vtec here i come

When the '05 came out, I was one of the many that didn't like the new changes, but after awhile it grew on me. I like the Type S wheels. It really makes it distinctive from the base model. As for the seats, IMO, I think the sides don't hold as tight as before. However, it is softer and more comfortable than the previous model. The quality of the leather is better. I went to the dealership the other day and the '05 really looks good in person. Congrats on the purchase & hope you enjoy the car.
Congrats on the purchase. I have had mine for almost 2 months now. I waited until 800 miles or so until I hit VTEC and I am extremely impressed. I would agree with you on your review as well, but I feel that this car feels "tighter" inside than the DC2R. Then again, it is a different car, but I have no complaints so far...
The 05's are ok i work at an acura dealership and its a big change but the orange is crazy no one in my zone which is 4 dealers didnt order any so i havent seen one yet, but the new blue looks like the color off a honda dealership

Yeah, the new blue for the RSX is the EP3 blue, Vivid Blue Pearl.

yeah i got mine back in the 2nd week of september. first 1 sold in st. louis in the blaze orange color #978. i love the car, i almost went with the blue, but they had an orange one in the showroom and i couldnt keep my eyes off of it. i need to get some pics taken. i have almost 1800 miles on mine. congrats on gettin the 05 it is a sweet car
what options did u guys get with urs? i only got the splash guards, scotch guard on the interior, and a teflon coating on the paint that warantees that it will never fade and never have swirl marks.
