Default Welp i guess i can join the "blow'd up motor club"

this past saturday i was leave the HT sacramento meet at D2motorsports, and when i go onto talory road i shifted into second at 7 grand and welp my motor went took a ****, so i on suday i took it all apart and this is what i found

this is the first sign of an "OOOO FUCKN ****" i took the flywheel cover off and saw the nice peace of metal.

eeehhh metal junks and oil, YHEAAA thats ok

**** i think that bolt wholes alil fucked and i don't think there should be a fucked slice

ooo yaaaaaa alil bock metal in the oil pan is healthy

droped down the metal part and low and behold there Rod #4 its ALL ITS FUCKED UP GLORY

block is all fucked up, and look at the nice gashes out of the crank were the rod sits

were an oil pan stud used to be

number 3 got fucked up on the cylinder wall

and here is a nice lil chunk out of the cylinder #4 wall

again

whats left of piston #4

nice lil chunk out of piston 3

#4 rod

and to think just last week she was running strong

also the #4 piston decided to travel up and hit the Intake valves, so im sure there bent now too
well the motor supposedly had 10,000 miles on it, and everythign looked super clean. in good light the cross hatch was still visible, pistons were in really good shape, the head looked flawless, but this still happend. aaa oo well. Note this motor when drivin by me had never NEVER NEVER be missshifted, and maybe saw the rev limiter a toatle of 5 or 6 times.

Ouch man! Sorry to hear this. I hope this doesn't tell anything about how unreliable "new" honda motors may get.

Rod bolt failure? Improper installation of your pistons, maybe? Sucks dude

sorry to hear man, i am assuming you bought this motor from someone else that assembled it???? the first time a nut is reused it loses 20% tension and i am thinking that they just reused the rodbolts and nuts. who knows if they over torqued them and stretched them causing them to break. because that bottom end should have been able to take over 7000 rpms. good luck with your future project

I really wonder why it decided to mess up. Good luck on your next build, I'm sure about 50 percent of us knows how you feel, including me.

What are the details on this motor:
Stock (factory assembled)?
Rebuilt (by who)?

If your going to build a new motor, use some egale "big bolt" rods or something better than stock. Even honda doesn't use stock (GSR) rods in their type R...
