Apex'i World Sport Exhaust Review clip and pics
(10/29/04) edit: replaced with better sound clip
Ok finally had a little time to take a stupid clip and some pics. I didn't even bother editting anything so I will have some better clips one of these days.
I just got the Apex'i World Sport exhaust after work today. Installed it right now in the rain in my garage, and can't believe this! Its like stock. But when you rev it kind of hard it has this nice pur. Nothing like the tanabe style axleback I had, even with the silencer in. The greddy evo I tried was pretty loud and too much bass. This is exactly what I was looking for. And yet the piping is nice and large.
It comes as a 3 piece exhaust with separate muffler, pipe, and resonator. Has the bolts and 3 gaskets for each connection.
So far the exhaust has gotten a little louder. It can almost be heard inside the car. Almost. Still very quiet. I was more curious on the sound, so when I heard the clip from my digital camera I was surprised. I now wish I could have compared this to the stock exhaust. If I can't hear it in the car, how come it sounds like that on the clip? Either way it sounds good from outside or inside. I was barely revving the car though.
So far I have not heard any hitting or clunking coming from the exhaust. Even with my hotchkis sway bar. I tried to get a couple of angles showing the pipe and how it sits under the car.
The most amazing part, I think it makes the car feel better. I wasn't thinking I was going to feel a difference, but maybe this goes well with the hondata #4, comptech short header, and comptech icebox. Its like a quiet stock car that has some oomph to it. More to come.
Pictures in next post.
Sound clip in 3rd post.
More to come when I get more of a chance. Anyone want to edit my clip for me and let me repost it so its smaller and shorter???

Does the exhaust "bottle neck" (reduce in diameter) where it connects to the catalytic convertor and then open up to the full 60mm or is it a full 60mm throughout the entire exhaust?
i didn't bother to make note of the size where it connects to the cat. Would that make any difference?? I wonder what the size is of where the tip comes out of the muffler.
I'm not a 100% sure on the difference it makes, but take a look at the middle exhaust in the pic above. You can see where it tapers down near the 3-bolt flange. Is there something similar on the Apex'i - can you see it by peeking under the car? I figure most aftermarket exhausts negate the increased diameter by having that bottle neck there and wondering if it's the same thing on the RSX platform as I'm not sure of the stock exhaust diameter.
Just FYI in the above pic (left to right):
Stock, Tanabe Racing Medallion, Custom 3" - all for DC2 Integra.
how's the performance of this catback vs the other ones? If it's not too much hp/tq difference from, say a... Fujitsubo PG. Then I would rather have a quieter exhaust.

Doesn't look like it bottlenecks from one of the pics (unlike the Tanabe midpipe). Very sweet sounding system BTW.

the tip is 100mm and the pipe is 60mm. But no clue what the muffler is inside and how big it is where it exits the muffler.

Yes, please do that. That would be awesome. Maybe in car so we can hear the vtec crossover.

I had an Apex'i WS on my DB8, and it got much louder after a week or so (It sounded so sweet!).
BUT, it isn't as loud as most aftermarket exhausts.

Finally I can rest as I see your "B" pipe is as low as my T1R "B" pipe is...Its very visible from the side of the vehicle...But it sure flows good.
BTW...It sounds great.
