switch from auto to manual
i have a '95 honda civic automatic, i hate having the out automatic. i want to get a manual switched into my car, whats the best way going about this? and how much would this cost?
thanks
thanks
well if u got the money buy a new car that is already a stick or have someone else change it it is a headache and requires a ton of patience so if you do it yourself good luck
I did it to a 04 it is harder than a 95. all toghether it cost me around 2000, but I spent 600 on a aftermarket clutch and flywheel and got the best tranny I could find it is not to hard.
for your car you will need:
tranny with clutch and flywheel
master cyl and slave
clutch pedal and brake pedal
shifter
shift linkage
fill bottle for master
clutch lines (you can get at auto zone)
I think that the engine mounts on the tranny side are different
to get it to start you have to jump the park wires so the car thinks that it is in park
Get a helms manual it is the best thing that I bought
a engine hoist is a good thing to have too

a few of my buddies did it (b16pwrcrx & oneslodx) did for another friend of mine....they said it wasn't that bad, most people are like "just buy a manual car" but they really didn't think it was that hard. My friend bought the HCP kit(I think that is the brand kit) for B series swap into a EG, the Auto to manual mount from them...under the center console, the holes are already there, just need to cut them out(open them) and mount the shifter. Integra/Civic pedals are the same so you can use them and they bolt right in. Just to have to wire the car to make it think it is in Park the whole time. and to get the reverse lights to work, run a wire the the sensor on the tranny and bingo, the reverse lights work.
PM them, they will be happy to help you with the swap. Like I said, they didn't think it was that bad. Easier on civics than accords, they have done both. Good luck in what you choose to do.

once you have the clutch bolted up, just run the master cylinder through the firewall (the holes should already be there, just covered up with rubber), put the two nuts on from the inside of the car, then just use an oem plug or nut and bolt to attatch the pedal with the cylinder, hope that helps a little bit
good luck, i just got mine done and i love it, so much better then an au-slow-matic

I've done several of these swaps already and make sure you have all the parts if you are doing it yourself. It will save you the headaches of running around looking for them.
the manual brake/clutch peddles is not that hard to install, just take out the driver seat and lay down....
you don't need the whole bracket from the brake/gas peddles.....just switch out the brake peddles.....

clutch pedal's not hard at all if you're a small guy..
but the brake pedal and gas pedal is one assembly, so it's REALLY bitch to work on especially when pulling it out..
replacing just the brake pedal was a lot harder than I thought. it was rather easier to replace the brake/gas pedal assembly but you have to drop the steering colum down to pull the brake/gas pedal assembly out/in.
I forget the name of the company but you can get auto-man. mount.
OR
get the "manual tranny (upper) mount bracket" from a Honda dealership and any 92~95 civic/94~00 integra tranny mount(man.) from a junkyard..
either way is good but MAKE SURE you have ALL the parts for the conversion.
if you can't, sell it and get a man. car..
good luck man.
