Default how to get power from a 93 GS on a budget

i just a 93 Integra GS, and i love it. i want to give it power though, and i've got around 750 dollars. If anyone could give me some parts to get for some instant acceleration gain (nos excluded), i'd appreciate it. thanks

Give the poor guy a break.

For $750 and if thats all you have, you reall have no choice but to go the Nitrous route.

Of you can save a couple hundred more and piece together a junkyard turbo setup. But this might be hard for you to do...

Plus it wouldn't last that long either... I say just save it and get a decent turbo kit. It's hard to do, cuz I know I hate waiting, but it's best in the long run.

Yea, sorry for being an ***, I see that is your first post and you probably didnt know that you would get flamed for making such a thread. Yeah The only thing for BIG gains with that much amount of money is N2O. Other than that you could do Intake, header, exhaust for a few horespower.

when u say instant acceleration are you expecting a huge gain? i dont know u can get CAI that give little or no noticable gains but it all adds up.
seriosly nos is the only thing i can think off that gives good gains for buck. but alot of people do Intake Manifolds and exhaust. that wont give huge gains but people say it makes a difference.. although im not sure u can get all of that for 750. sorry im not much help good luck =P

It can last if he saves $300 on the side for tuning (well it's all about TUNING)...

Else he can read, read, read about Turbo Edit or Uber Data.

i suggest you just save up for a turbo kit, of course everyone wants power right away but you just got it, so take your time and do things right or you'll regret it good luck

No, no...

I suggest you read up to turbo'ing Hondas first...
Learn it first then put it to good use.

Haha there's a thought... why not just put a better powerplant in there?

Well I understand that the tuning would definitely help w/ the overall life of the engine, but with a budget of $750 - $300 for tuning leaving $500 for all of the parts, something's going to be half-***. Unless you really really really know how to find deals, and in that case, let me know!

intake 100-150 You can find one on HT
bore out throttle body 100 on HT site
Exhaust 200-300 You can also find on site maybe cheaper
Cams, this is what you will feel the most for the money. 200-300 Get some used or regrinds. Remember when get cams, you have to make the motor breath for optimal performance out of the cams(intake, exhaust, header, will still work though.
Reprogrammed ECU 100-150.

Just some stuff for you; get all this combined and you definitely feel a difference.

with $750 you could prolly find a cable b16 tranny and get a small shot of nitrious and you will feel a WOOOORLD of a diffrence. as long as you do the tranny swap yourself you could do it for 750. if not, then you could prolly just afford the tranny swap.

Exactly what i was going to say. Intake Header and Exhaust still wont give you as much of a gain as a B16 transmission will. The LS transmission really kills the LS motor. Long story short, forget i/h/e for now, find a cable B16 trans, and if you have to save up another hundred or two, DO IT, well worth the wait.

If you can find turbo parts for cheap you can do it. I would look into pick n pull yards and pull a decent looking turbo off, get a used turbo mani that is compatible with engine and said turbo, make your own charge piping and exhause work and set-up some fuel management... etc.

But if you knew how to do this already, you probably wouldn't be asking this question.

Get some NO2 for some serious cheap power, but use it wisely.

GS is just another trim level. (RS, LS, LS-S, GS, GS-R)

The GSR transmission isn't the same as a b16 either, I think the gears are slightly longer? I'm pretty sure it goes

ITR < B16 < GSR < LS

As far as gearing goes...

you could do the b16 tranny as stated above but what made the biggest difference on my 91 teg was cams. I got crane stage2 cams, crane valve springs and retainers for about 800 bucks new.

whaa how complicated thats so many trim levels actually i dont know how many we have in aus =P i seen GSi which is i think the LS in disguise <_< >_> *shifty eyes* ohh and our VTi then the VTi-R (GSR) not sure what the VTi is then =-P anyway go for the B16 tranny that would be good. oops another question what car does the B16 tranny come from any honda Civic ? or specific model ?

Hmm I dont think so. I believe in order from shortest geared to longest:

LS>GSR>ITR>B16

I think the ITR is in between the b16 and gsr. With the LS being the longest and the b16 being the shortest. Correct me if I am wrong.
