Got my NRG CF Hood locks on
Great product for $50. The plate is stainless steel with a CF overlay that matches the weave of VIS hoods almost perfect. The only tools needed are liquid wax, a drill, 1 3/4 hole saw, 3/4 router bit, and a dremel tool. I should have taken pics along the process, but was too lazy.
I put the pins in holes that were already on the core support, then put a little bit of wax on the top of them and closed the hood to leave a nice circular impression on where to drill. With a JDM front, you have to take the headlights off and cut about 2 inches off of the bolt.
From there, use the hole saw to cut the bottom skeleton out. Then use the router bit to cut the hole from the top of the hood so the CF doesn't split all over the place.
The router bit is slightly smaller than the lock, so you use the dremel to smooth out the hole and widen it a few mm.
From there everything else is pretty much self explanitory, but if you guys need help, let me know and I'll tell you not what to do.
Anthony's turned out a lot better than mine because we went out and got the bits instead of trying to cut out random shapes with the dremel like I did
.
Overall, they work great, keep the hood from wobbling on the highway and holds the hood nice and tight without looking too tacky.

Joey,
I love *****, too.
On-Topic:
Are all CF hoods wobbly on the highway? My dad tracks his '96 BMW 328, and I was trying to talk him out of a CF hood.
Did you get yours for looks or performance? Would you do it again?

Chris, ***** are good.
OT- I'm pretty sure most CF hoods wobble at high speeds even if the driver doesn't notice it. I got mine for security, safety, and looks. I've been wanting something to secure my hood for a while, but don't like the shiny bling or how bulky traditional hood pins/locks look. I would do it again in a heartbeat since I know how to do it properly.
It took me about 2 hours to put mine on, then I put Anthony's (ITRACER121) in about 15 min.
Good eye nightrider, heres a little bit more of it.

You don't want to see the underside of my hood
. But whenever Anthony gets back in town, I'll snap some pics of how to properly do it and edit the first post with detailed instructions on what to do with pics.

PM "importindustries" for them. Can't beat $50 shipped. These completely eliminated any flex or wobble on my hood.
I like any ***** as long as their not yours Lee.

They look good. I heard from a couple of peeps that you can't really tell if the locks are 'locked'. I love that CF lip on the wing. Where can I get one? PM me if you like.
You can tell if they're locked very easily. If you put your fingers between the hood and bumper on a USDM front or between the headlights and the hood on a JDM and try to move it, you usually have a little bit of play; but with the hood locks you completely eliminate any flex and know when you're locked.
As for height from the ground, not sure. I just put the HKS Hypers on, but haven't had time to adjust them. It looks just like stock height to me right now and I'm about 1.75-2 inches from the tire.

Actually you can at half the cost, and they were the originals too, the ones JDM Honda Parts ripped off and started charging about as much for:
http://store.summitracing.com/...0&y=0 Click on MRG-1472

Also I'd be careful, certain brands say they're NOT meant to replace hood pins or a latch, and arent meant to secure the hood during driving.

those are not the same locks...the lock on this one sit higher then the CF ones
I have seen them both in person and I would not order the ones from summit or JHP
I now own the ones form NRG
and will post pics tonight

Those aren't bad if you don't mind having shiny chrome plates on your hood. The ones in the NRG kit are polished stainless steel under the CF. The locks are also different from the NRG. The NRG come with 2 steel plates as apposed to 1. And you're paying a hair over $30 shipped for those.
They look SIMILAR, but are not the same.
For the record, Anthony and I use it in conjunction with the hood latch. Simply unlock them b4 you pop your hood and lock them after you shut it.

OMG as if I didnt notice? WTF? Its kind of direspectful to assume that with a post like mine that I dont know what I'm talking about.
I've used the Mr Gasket ones TWICE on two different cars... Dont go assuming things, it makes you look like an *** dude.
Obviously they're different only a moron would think otherwise, I was just saying that theres other options and other brands that do the same thing and are cheaper for the people that dont care about looks.

Whoa, whats disrespectful? He just stated the obvious and his opinion. If he doesn't want to use it, so be it. He's not trying to "dog" or "disrespect" you. What is he assuming?
Good for you. I know theres plenty of cheaper options out there. I could get a few pieces of metal from home depot and weld together hood pins that look like *** to my car, but I DO care about the way my car looks. I didn't get my car or into this hobby to be cheap with it.

He was assuming that I didnt know the difference, when I clearly stated that it was a different brand, and then had to point out the difference as if I hadnt already known long before this thread ever came up.
Its your opinion that its cheap, but then again, some might consider your rotas to be "cheap". The Mr Gasket ones do the same thing, thats all I was saying, just like Slipstreams do the same thing that Regamasters do, the fact that they cost less is just a benefit, when they do the same thing, its obvious you get this a little bit
.
I called up Mr Gasket personally when I applied too much force when installing my first set, they sent me two new replacement parts overnight for free.
