Default REVIEW: Megan Stainless Steel Header :PICS:

Alright guys I was the test pig on this one.. For H23 Preludes there's pretty much one choice as far as a header goes.. and thats usually DC, because there aren't really many out there for this particular engine.. So I figured instead of paying $300 for a shitty header, I would pay $125 and get one that was a straight copy and stainless steel at that! What do we have? thats right.. Megan Racing header off of ebay.. I was actually kind of suprised at the quality! It has the same shitty 2" collector as the DC but then again I still paid way less and its all ss and TIG welded with 3/8" flanges etc..

here are some pics..

What do you think? I was delightfully suprised to say the least! The inside doesn't even really need much cleaning up, if any at all.. Can't wait to install it tommorow!

I would agree with Daboi630, upgrading the collector to a bigger size should help yield some more power. While you are at it, it would be a good idea to also upgrade your cat. if you still have the stock one, a high-flow cat or test pipe would help the motor breathe better. good luck with the install

For the price, Megan Racing makes some really good ****! I bought a Megan Racing full stainless steel catback exhaust system for my girlfriend's 1996 Maxima and it was awesome. The welding was top-notch, and it sounded great!

Looks pretty to me. the only thing I would worry about is how long will it take to ''blue''. oh and to delguiner the collecter is where the 4 pipes merge together and become one

I don't know how big the collector is on that thing, but I would disagree w/ the guys that posted to get rid of it.

The H22's can benefit from a 2.25-2.5" collector.....but they are designed to breath at a higher RPM range. If the collector on that header is bigger than stock, leave it alone.

Looks beautiful though! Let us know if you get it dyno'd.

yea, but the DC header has the same flange.. and its 3/8" thick.. thats not very thin lol..

I install it and it fit with no tweaking, took it for a test drive, I think I have a leak somewhere maybe.. I will have to retighten some bolts.. I noticed a gain above 3k definitely..

One thing though, my clutch is slipping badly now and I cant figure it out.. in between 1>2 and 2>3 shift it slips horribly, before none at all! I know it didn't give me THAT much power lol.. could the liquid wrench i sprayed on the bolts gotten in the little rubber boot thing on the trans case near the flywheel and gotten on the clutch?!?

its about .25" bigger ID than the stock collector..

So far it is a gold color, beautiful! I will take a pic..

whats up with my clutch though?!

well look for bids marked "STAINLESS" header or whatever.. and if it looks like you can see a ghost image of "megan" on the drivers side runner, then thats the one.. be sure and ask the seller if it is megan as well.. bid is usually $90 plus like 35 shipping or so..

here is the color after it warmed up!

yup it comes with the downpipe, and I don't think I would modify the collector unless your looking to make some serious power.. The stock collector on the H23 downpipe is about 1/4" smaller than it looks.. if you take it off you will see a pipe within a pipe so to speak and its really small..

how much more power do u think it would give to the wheels and how much more would it cost because its a cheap header i would have extra money to spend on a collector.

ps the header looks very nice when it gets hot garn a bit

hey, probably not to much more power, but it depends on what mods you have.. $100-150 i would guess for the new flex section and piping and labor.. not positive though..

thanks!

just buy the header and be done with that part. unless of course you want to put a highflow cat on there as well. then do the cat back portion of the exhaust. then get a true cold air intake.
if you want to go fast... dont go spending money on modifying collectors etc. unless you are in need of taking a half second off your quarter mile times......
basically if you want to go fast, N/A use juice.
then again if you have money to burn send your head to av engineering and have him port it and add better valves, springs, and cams. then get a aftermarket itb and a aftermarket im. or you could send me some of that money that you have to burn and ill buy a hooker for the night!!~
