Traded the R
Well I decided to trade the R for the 2002 TT. Launches are amazing in that car and it is fun to drive. Ive got 19"'s on the way, chip, and a rieger body kit. Plus Ill have one of those cool wings that are speed activated. My friend who has my R will be on this site. Hes planning on some new MUGEN goodies. Anyway you guys have helped me out a few times over the last year. Ill still browse through the board and make some comments. Later...
it is a great car. Have fun with Audi of America and that chip. Warranty gone bye bye. Yes regardless of what they will tell you, even with a spare stock ECU they will know. Take it from a former S4 owner. AoA will be the bane of your existense if you modify that car.

This is the first I've heard of someone trading their R in, instead of selling it on the open market!? Obviously they gave you a deal you're happy with; would you mind letting us know what the Audi dealer thought it was worth to them? (And what year R you had?)
This is the same kind of stuff I went through with my 97 GTI VR6. Sucks, trust me. That's why I'll never dry a VW/Audi again!!! They are such incompetent jerks!!!
I wish you the best of luck in your purchase, but it's an uphill battle every service visit.
Funny thing is (well it's not so funny), my buddy bought a 97 Jetta GLX within a month of my GTI. Guess what his car has been in the shop on and off for 6 months now for various electrical problems (Sunroof no longer working, speedo/tach no longer working, pwidows, locks, not working, trunk release, and a myriad of other things) Guess what, they've replaced at least $2000 worth of parts and at least another $1000 in labor and he's got more electrical problems now then when he started. Whenever they fix something two more things break. When he explicitly asks to have the replaced parts returned and has it on the service invoice, they don't return the parts! The technician's are completely incompetent, the service advisors arrogant, impolite and unwilling to admit to admit they can't fix the problem, and VWoA sits and backs the dealers and their decisions every step of the way all the while you're either just without a car or your shelling out big $$$ to have them fix nothing!
Owning a VW/Audi can be one of the most frustrating ownership experiences you'll ever have. I loved my GTI, but I absolutely hated the incompetence, negligence, and disrespect I got from the dealerships and VWoA. They're a HUGE bunch of ******** I never want to speak with again!!! Good luck with your TT, you're gonna need it!!!

I owned a VW Corrado G60 in 95 and it was the worst vehicle I have ever owned! I have never had so many problems with a car before. It got to the point that I would take it in for repairs and while I was driving out of the service dept something else would go wrong (this happened 3 times). I don't know if it was sabbotoge or not but it sure was frustrating. Gave me problems till the day it died. RIP CORRADO.
It was however one of my fav cars by the way. Tough love.

Yeah I know about problems with Volkswagons. But im pretty sure the porsche dealership here won't give me any trouble. Im protected up to 60,000 miles but Im planning on selling it around 30,000 so I should be OK. I was going to buy that chip but not anymore. How can they tell? There is a switch to turn it off so it doesent read on the diagnostic computer. Hmmm...
man, I really can't believe you did it. Your R was so unique too...
An Integra might be a glorified Civic, but the TT is a glorified Bug...

If you don't mind answering, how much did you get for your R in the trade?

They can tell by reading boost peaks way above normal, anyhow I'm sure you'll have fun w/the TT, they are great cars.
and I am sure you'll have fun with your bug. My friend's brother bought an S4 and the first day he picked up the car, he couldn't open the trunk and a few days later, CEL came on.
Whatever. I enjoy the car so that is what matters. I am starting to realize that some of you aren't too bright. Its a 2002 Audi TT with 6,000 miles. He only owes $16,000.00 on it. They go for $40,000 new. I owe $18,000.00 on my 98 Type R. You do the math and then tell me who wouldn't trade.
Oh about the chip. It has a remote switch so you can turn the chip on or off. So if you turn off the chip before taking it in to the dealer they wouldn't know unless they pulled your ECU.
