Default 1997 ITR#122 What Have You Been Up To Buddy? (56K=NO)

I believe my last post was the Spoon Steering Wheel and the Omniman Coilovers. Since then, I've litterally had the car in pieces working on it about 10 hours a day. Not rushing by any means. Just nice relaxed soda sipping 10 hour days with #122.

Im sure some of you remember that I had a NBP Type R door on the drivers side. Well not anymore. I couldn't take it. I broke down and rattle canned that bitch. This is no cheeezy rattle can paint job either. Sanding, cleaning, primers, base coats, sealers, clear coats, wet sanding...buffing. My door still looks like ****, but it doesn't look like NBP **** . The pictures in this post are of the the base coat wet sanded, before I finally put on the matching coat and buffed it. You will see. It doesn't match just right, but like I said that is the base coat.

I finally convinced my redneck roommate with a case of Schmidt to bust out his welder and do something productive for once. He's got skills. A quick flash back, most of you remember that I installed Takata harnesses through my Sparco harness bar and it turned out after much education to me that it was a big no no. So this morning, I completely gutted the interior and we welded in a new six point roll bar. Complete with plates above and below with four 3/8" Grade 8 bolts in each plate. I painted the roll bar flat black before installation.

After we finished the roll bar we jacked the caRRR up and installed brand new stainless steel KTELLER exhaust. It's fully mandrel (sp) bent and is 3" all the way through. I am very pleased with how it looks.

Taking it back to just after the steering wheel install I started installing my Full Race Stage 3 Turbo Kit. I kind of hinted at this in posts in the past. Top Fuel caught onto it . So for the past four days, I've been slowly and maticulously installing the turbo. Please keep in mind that I don't have the time while in Seattle to get my block sleeved and what not so I must wait until I get back to Hawaii, which is two weeks. Here is a brief list of the setup:
Full Race Stage 3 Turbo (complete kit)
T3/67 turbo
Tial 40mm Waste Gate
Tial Blow Off Valve
Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller
Walbro 255cfm fuel pump
RC 650 injectors
AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
AEM Fuel Rail
St Corsa Cam Gears
Toda Timing Belt
P28 Socketed with Uberdata
Blitz FATT N1 Turbo Timer
Blitz gauges
Exedy Stage 2 Clutch (thick)
Exedy Light Weight Flywheel
Stock Type R Head
Stock Type R Bottom End
Full Race Traction Bar
Fluidyne Radiator
Spoon Low Temp Thermostat
Spoon Low Temp Fan Switch
Maradyne High Flow Fan
Spoon Radiator Hoses

Sorry for the long *** post. I'll break each install up into its own review as soon as I get the car running and the bugs worked out. I plan on dynoing the caRRR next Friday. I'll post results.

On with the pics.

DOOR
Cop Door in full effect. Rice Patrol 9-1-1.

Taped off Half-*** style and ready to go. Razor knife in fore ground just in case it turns out shitty and need to slit writs.

NBP sanded using 500 grit. After this I cleaned with water and a drop of soap.

Half way through process. Wet sanded base coat ready for final coat and clear coat. Notice black smudge on fender? I've been elbow deep in turbo parts all week

Another shot of the half way mark. It's starting to look a hell of a lot better.

ROLL BAR
Ah.....the first weld. Nothing like the smell of burning metal and gasses early in the morning. This picture though hard to see is of my room mate tacking the plate to the bar before we removed the hoop and completely welded the plates onto the bar.

Here is Mr. Roommate welding one of the bars to the top of the hoop. This bar runs to the rear of the car attaching near the rear right strut on another plate. Amazingly enough (roommate skills) he didn't burn any interior pieces at all.

Another picture of the weld. I'll have more soon when I get the interior back in and get all the nicks repainted on the roll bar.

EXHAUST
Here is a picture from the front of the car to the rear. Pictured is the Full Race down pipe, Spoon lower tie rod end, and kteller exhaust. It is sagging because we hadn't installed all the hangers quite yet. Had to take pictures before it got dark.

TYP R BCH

TURBO
Pick of the header. Getting this thing on was a ******* bitch. First you have to replace all the top four exhaust manifold bolts with studs. Next, you have to cut about 1/4 inch off studs 1 and four then grind down the tops of the bolts to get the manifold to go on. It took me about five hours of fitting, cutting and grinding to get it to fit properly. It does not bolt on in spite the fact the manufactuer says so. I have to do something about that dipstick before I melt the **** out of it.

Another header shot. Man that thing looks great.

I'm suddenly in the mood for snails

ppPPPPPPPSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

"Oh hunny don't worry about that kid, its just an integra. Come on your in a V8 Camero....give me a kiss." It's all about stealth bitches.

Well there you go you picture ******. I'll have product reviews when I get the wheels on the pavement again. Peace.
