Default Transmission is about to go ... I think.

I have a 95 accord ex vtec coupe.
My transmission is shifting a little bit harder as of late. It generally is only noticable when I am accellerating slowly (not often) and it has 125k miles on it. Should I prepare to buy one now? I can get about $500 by trading in some stock options of mine. I have heard that I can get a used JDM trany for about that much... is that accurate or a bad idea. The fluid is fine (already checked). Any input would be appreciated and any estimates on transmissions would be nice as well.

While I'm here .... what rims would look best on my car?

Like when you step on it it feels like it doesn't grip, then it kicks in?

I forgot to specify I have an automatic.

There is no "slipage" when I get on it. I can just feel it shift when I accellerate slowly. It doesn't "buck" but if it was a bit harder I could say it was bucking.

Is actually during shifting or is it when the lockup clutch engages? My mom's '90 Civic EX auto is clunking pretty bad on upshifts. I've never held Honda autos in high esteem. We're just gonna drive it until it dies.

Don't let my post count fool you I am a car retard. I think it's both up and downshifting when the problem occours.

Welcome to Honda auto transmission.

BTW, you cannot change the filter on a honda auto. You can only change the fluid. Thats what I was told.

Honda Auto transmissions suck. I have a 94 accord lx and I just went through my second transmission in two months. I bought a used one and it gave out in only two months.

FWIW, I had a 94 Civic EX automatic and there was no filter, only a magnetic drain plug.

The 5th gen accord auto trannies shift really rough anyway. Are you using genuine Honda ATF, or are you just using the Dexron II stuff. That can make a difference.

If your tranny does go, I would suggest that you rebuild the tranny you have. This will be more reliable than buying a used tranny, even though it will cost more.
