I jacked up the front and put it in gear and spun one tire and the other spun the opposite direction. I've heard people saying that it should spin the same direction if you have lsd..??? I took it to a empty parking lot and burned out, it layed two clean 10ft black strips. (i know thats not a very accurate to test for lsd). I also hear i could take out the axles and look through? are there any other ways to test to see if its working poperely? I've already searched, and most of the answers are opposite of each other. Help!

 

You want to test and see if it's working? Get in your car, drive across the Kelso bridge to Oregon...when your dropping down the back side of the bridge, you know that on ramp to the high way that goes shooting up the hill toward the coast? Take that bitch at about 60 and if you end up in the guard rail...it's not working.

It depends if the car is in gear or not when you're spinning the wheels. Ive never personally taken notice (on my past two cars that had LSDs) of which way they spin though.

The drive-shaft method I have seen (before my motor was swapped in my old hatch) you look through the driveshaft hole and if you can see the other driveshaft without any obstructions (itd look like a 1cm wide bar going through if there were) then its for sure an LSD.

 

drop the clutch at 5k and see if you put down two tire marks or just one ....

you are just telling him how to check and see if his tranny has it, he is trying to tell if it WORKS, apparently it does work due to your description, even try peeling out in dirt and see if your peel out with 1 or two tires but it sounds like it works right now

if you gas it out of a drive way heading left or right you can feel the front claw its way out in front of you. its a very different feel without LSD

 

Your LSD works. The helical LSD will rotate will opposite directions.

 

in gears one will spin one way the other will spin the other way. In nuetral however, both wheels are indenpendent of each other.

 

shift into 1st at 80mph, if your tires dont lose traction you have LSD

 

hah.. In neutral the other tire doesnt move at all when i rotate one side.
