I know this might be a very basic question, but I'm a first accord owner (99 EX coupe). What does the maintenance req'd light mean?? is it something critical I should pay attention to?? I read the manual and it says this indicator comes on as a reminder for routine maintenance which I carrried out already at 117000mi, now it's at 119000mi... is there something the mechanic shoud have done after carrying out the maintenance??

Did the light start after the mechanic did the work? Some cars require the mechanic to reset the indicator. My Chevy Trailblazer had the same thing and can be reset by the owner.

 

It means change your oil....

 

Just reset the light since you already did the maintence.

 

Owner's manual says how to reset that light. You or the mechanic can't reset it until it's actually coming on. (For example if you did the oil change early.)

 

the maintenance required light comes on every 7,500 miles to remind you to take ur car to the dealership so they can rip you off. to reset the light have the key out of the ignition. hold down the "trip reset" button and have it held down while you put the key back in and turn the ignition to the II position and do not let go until the maintenance required light turns off. you have to hold it down for like 10 or 15 seconds.
