Default koni yellows and kyb agx?!?!?

right now im low on funds but looking for some suspension
i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if there was a major difference running the koni yellows vs the kyb agx????
cause i mean their both adj shocks
i know that the konis are height adjustable
and can stand much harsher spring rates
but im looking for how much of a difference there is running the agx and the koni yellows

btw the reason why agx is a option is because i will be purchasing a comptech swaybar to complement the shocks only if i get agx

ive had my h&r races with kyb agx's for about 6 months, daily driving, and like 300+ miles a week. i ride on the softest setting only because i cross bridges a lot and on full stiff it bounces around like crazy. BUT, when i want a stiff ride with little body roll, i set it and they perform perfect. i also have no strut bars, no bushings..just shocks and springs.

i like my agx's, i was also looking at the yellow's, but theyre really expensive. im thinking about getting a set though..ONLY because i want to go lower. right now, i have 0 finger gap. the fender sits right over the 195/55/15 tire which is nice..but i want to tuck

when i was reading about agx's, people said they blow fast with an agressive spring..mine havent yet and they are just as good as when i got them. i too got them for $321 shipped

Default KYBs.

2004.9.23

I've had KYB for about near 2 years now. Excellent shocks at the price you get them for (set @ $300). On soft setting the shocks are just a tad stiffer than stock, but on the hardest setting hitting bumps on the freeway go straight through the car and into your *** (laugh).

Don't know about Koni, except they have a reputation for being good. You ought to know that in Japan KYB is/was a popular choice for many enthusiasts and race teams when it came to dampeners.

If I didn't have KYBs, I'd be using HKS HiperMAX dampeners or TEIN system suspension.

The Konis and KYB's are both very good for street use. However, when I was tuning Miatas, we found that Konis have better performance qualities since they have an internal design that's a bit different than the KYB's. In fact, most of my friends who autocross are using the Konis.

The KYB's seemed to work very well with the stock springs, but had a tendency to be very sensitive to higher spring rates. Several friends have discovered that putting them on anything less than 7 or 8 will give a choppy, noisy ride because their rebound rate isn't quite matched to the stiffer performance springs. But when they were adjusted to the harshest setting, the cars handled beautifully.

But if you get a chance to ride in a car with the Tein HA or Flex setup, do it. They did a great job of valving them right.

You might want to consider the H&R Cup Kit if it fits into your budget. It's about the price of a set of Koni yellows.

The kit consists of a set of Koni shocks and a set of H&R springs. The springs are somewhere between the sport and race springs.

I have a set on my EH3 and I love it. Great for a street car.

I went through the same questions last spring and decided not to go cheap on shocks. I got the koni yellow, neuspeed sp3's models ->for the extra height adjustment (that paid off).

From my research, a shock that has a simultaneous rebound/compression adjustment is not a tuning advantage (like the agx's). 95% of the handling is in the rebound (look up crxlee).

but it depends on how far you plan to take things. As for longevity, you will most likely get what you pay for.

I went cheap on the springs tho, with h&r sports, wasn't sure what level of stiffness i'd be comfortable with. Easier to upgrade if i get more serious.

BAHH!!!! im running that setup right now i ended up going with the AGX setup
and let me tell you there is no way that the AGX can compare to the konis in anyway!!!!!

KONIS OWN!!!!!

But dont get me wrong AGX are good for the price.....well the price i got them for but if i was to do it all over again i would get the konis!!!!

then again if your balling on a budget then AGX to teh max
