I'm thinking of doing the same thing for next season. It never hurts to here some first hand impressions. Anyone else?

Have you thought about getting the JDM rear upper control arms? They apparently will increase the camber in the rear, which should help improve overall grip. It might take away some of the tail happiness that you have added but if grip has been increased then your lap times should fall.

Hey, if it's JDM it can't be bad. Right?

More camber in the rear = more stick in the rear = more push in corners. The JDM rear upper pieces are nice, but the R needs more stick in the front and not the rear. Tailout is fast, push is not.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and purchase the 23mm sway bar and JDM rear upper control arms. Sounds like a nice low-cost upgrade to me!

Yeah its not bad with the 26/26but I thinking of switching out the front 26 for the stock 24 next time

Thanks for the review of the bar Will. It is one thing to hear people say this is good, or this is bad with no real experience - and quite another to hear some real on track inpressions...

I will be doing this upgrade soon I think.

 

I think you made a good point there. I guess the best solution is to get a larger rear bar and increase the overall grip with a 4 corner camber kit.

My observations of the tires once off of track...

-rear tires were only getting used on the outer 2/3's.
-front tires were getting used across the full surface.

I think a larger front tire section, increased rear bar dia., and rear camber adjustment would be a good thing for track use

Bilstein/GC 300F (maybe 315?)/500R

The *** end is all over the place, but turn-in is IMMEDIATE!
I've got the 26 Mugen front bar and 400# springs, which I hope will be just the ticket
(and yes, still haven't cut the bumpstops )

That's what I thought came with those ... the "classic" JDM front stiff set-up.
Now, my question is ... what are the tradeoffs/implications of more front spring vs. more front bar (given the choice of one or the other).

I'm cautiously optimistic that using both Mugen 26mm bars with 400F/500R will work well for both the street and moderate track stuff. Though, in hindsight ... my harness guide bar set-up might also be increasing the stiffness of the rear of the car.

 

I forgot to mention that I have the JDM upper strut bar. I wonder how that plays into the feel.

I forgot to further mention I've also installed Mugen Front and rear strut tower bars.

 

hehe In that case I forgot to mention I have Spoon bars in front and back, Cusco front lower, Stock and Spoon Rear lower Would have had the J's Racing upper pillar bar in but didnt have it in time

 

I imagine the install of the bar is pretty simple - are new bushings required?

 

Have you considered adding more rear spring (or less front)?
How's it on the roads/highway? (tolerable/fun/just like an ITR)

 

believe it or not the ride is great, not too stiff on street great on track. Im sure Will will give you his impressions of how it felt on track
The only thing I want to change out before VIR In february is the Front Mugen Sway to the OEM 24mm

 

Rear bar is extremely easy, Front takes a bit more work but is still easy. New bushings aren't needed as Will said he was able to reuse his stock bushings, although they are available, Also it depends on what shape your bushings are in.

 

I reused the end link bushings as well as the bar to subframe bushings.

Easy 25-30 min job.
