WHY???
same as the 2 previous gens of civics. 96-98 and 99-00. 01-03 and 04-05. looks like this front end will be around for 2 years.
the new wheels look 23423x better. make the 06-08 wheels look like something that'd belong on a vw bug or something.

Be thankful it was three years and not two. The only thing I dislike the hex/trapezoid indentions on the bumper. If it came down like a V it would be good. This is what killed the new accord for me.

I will say this...I didn't care for the new rims at all, in any of the previous pictures I have seen, but in this picture they look really good. Maybe its the Taffy. That being said I don't care for the entire front end redesign. The main thing is the line coming out of the edge of the fog light area. Granted, it does match up with the fender line, but IMO, it is much too defined, compared to the fender body line, thus making it stick out like a sore thumb. The line that runs through the fog light area horizontally (circa Mazda 3) looks out of place, and like a mistake. The entire car has a horizontal body line that runs the whole lower portion of the car, and I think if the fog light line matched that, it might look okay.
Of all of the "real" photos I've seen of the '09s, the Si, so far looks best in Taffy, although I haven't seen the Dyno Blue Pearl yet. And, while I was never really a fan of HRP, the Redline Orange color looks like vomit.

yeah, i agree with 2008fijibluesi, the front end doesn't do it for me, in fact it looks completely weird. previously you'd see a Civic and you'd look at it as a whole, now it seems like you're drawn to see the front and wonder what's up with it. but yeah, the wheels do look nice, but i still prefer my HFP ones

Stock rims are still stock rims. Most of us replace them within months of purchasing the car anyways. The front kit is eh. The mesh grill is nice, but the actual bumper design is subpar.

The reason that people replace them, is because Enkei designs subpar wheels for Honda. How many people do you see swap out their BBS wheels on VWs? A minority.

The redesign is made to look like the accord. Most car makers start with the flagship car and work their way down. Makes me wonder what the s2000 will look like now.
What add-ons do you guys think the next Civic will have? Bigger engine, v6, turbo, paddle shifters? I think the way most car companies are going, a bigger engine might be in store...your thoughts?

the civic has always been marketed for economy. i doubt they'd throw in anything you mentioned above.

Agreed. If anything, I think Honda would introduce a new car if they got on the lazy power bandwagon.

Element, Accord, Civic, Pilot, Fit, Ridgeline, Hybrid Civic, Odyssey, S2000, CR-V....**** did I miss any?
I think they pretty much covered a broad spectrum of vehicle types. I don't really see much else they could come out with new except maybe Hybrid versions of the Pilot, Accord, Odyssey, CR-V etc. Or maybe a beefed up Civic Si/S2000. Power-wise that is.

i've been reading road and track. they have a picture of the concept for the next s2000. it looks good. they're making it smaller though to compete with the mazda miata mx-5.

honda has several new cars in mind. They are all hybrids. One is an all new hybrid that looks almost exactly like the toyota prius, one is a sporty hybrid to resurect the crx, and I believe there is one more.

i just found that link. I guess one of the rumors was for it be more like the mazda miata but maybe it won't be after all.
Since its inception the Si has almost always come out with a larger engine.
1984-1987 - 1.5L (91 hp)
1988 -1991 - 1.6L (110-158hp)
1992-1995 - 1.6L (125 hp)
1999-2000 - 1.6L (160 hp)
2002-2005 - 2.0L (160hp)
2006-? - 2.0L (197hp)
If you look at other long lasting sports cars, their engines have also gotten alot bigger (M Series, Porsch, Skylines and EVOs).
Will a bigger I-4 fit in the FA/FG?, has anyone done it yet? I know if Honda put the Accord V-6 in an Si I'd be the first person in my hood to get on the list for one. I can't believe no one else thinks Honda will up the engine size...
