Default HOW TO: install cheap corner lights / learn to buy name brand

So I order these cheap amber corner lights the other day. 15.00$ doesn’t sound like a bad idea to me. Its only 15$ not much to lose, so I buy them. They come to my door and they are brand new. So I wanted to show the process of putting them on, and to show people why you should buy a nice set in the first place not these cheap ones.

Watch out this is not for beginners, very hard to change lights it involves one screw!

Step one: undo this screw on each light. Pull out the corner light and unscrew the bulbs.

Step 2: realize that these cheap eBay knockoff corner lights only have one bulb socket where as my stock one has two.

Next decide if you want your lights to blink when your blinkers are on, or stay lit at night. I chose them to be on at night when my lights are on. My bumper lights blink anyway.

Step 3: look at how bad these lights look as you set them in place.

Step 4: think that a little paint might help these junky lights out. I used some kind of spray can that was called bumper color. I forget what brand. I roughed up the surface a little before painting.

Step 5: put in the new lights. Place the corner light into all of the tabs on the fender. Then screw the single screw in. then look back at all the hassle you just had for some 15$ lights.

My ebay amber corners had both light sockets, they work fine and were cheaper than OEM (why I bought them)

I'm confused already... How did you get that screw out? lol, I wish I wasnt so lazy to simply change the light bucket to a 90-91, I got the 89ers and they suck for removing "jiggle jiggle pull pull! they can be a bitch sometimes.
Dont really like the 2 screws on the outside..
Man is theres alot of choices for the 90-91 models, 88,89 ones are limited to fugly ones. Might find the odd decent one.
Dude those auto X wheels look tiiight! buddys got the same on his frosty white rex... Good job with those lights, and now the trim is black I like them even more.

i thought that the real "jdm" corner lights only has one socket and the other was on the fender and the one that i decided to go with stays on when the lights are on and blinks when the signal is on

also i have ambers on mine and they look good (imo) there not the ones that has the crome inside and really clear orange these are mine

thanks for the info on the fog lights. did you have to cut your bumper to fit them? jdmshit.com has some really good deals on body parts. i might just have to order one of those lips. oh by the way that front mount is looking really good.

you wasted $15 to change out perfectly good working corner markers (and way better looking than full amber ones)??

wow....

could have used that money towards something worthwhile... like... gas?

your opinion, you must like the clear corner lights better. do you like big wings too? i think that the stock corner lights look much worse than these. if i would have known that these only had one light hole i wouldnt have bought them. whatever lesson learned. 15$ is pocket change, i was willing to risk 15$ to see if my car looked better. worst case scenario i would of just taken them off. but i like them...alot.

ebay is pretty hit or miss. but you take a gamble on something so cheap. I got a set of ambers for my hatch and they are great. fit fine, 2 holes and all. also ordered a set of yellow fogs from ebay and when they sent them they were amber... turns out i liked them better anyway.

good write up though

don't mind the ugly front end . its a serious work in progress.

the glass is colored amber, not painted.
they did come with a grill-like protector cover over half the lens but a quick dremel job took care of that.

ill take some night shots if you want them.

No, I like the OEM better. Cause I'm not a retard who spends money on replacing perfectly working lights so I can make it look worse.

Your $15 bought you crap you can't use.
My $15 bought me half my entry fee, my corner markers worked, and the car looked a helluva lot better

Before it was raped

if the headlamps were more rounded where it met the corner markers, it wouldn't look like it was haphazardly bolted to the car.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> do you like big wings too? </TD></TR></TABLE>
Yes, I do. that's how I get to travel to Europe and Asia... otherwise, it'd be by boat and take me weeks.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i was willing to risk 15$ to see if my car looked better.</TD></TR></TABLE>
It didn't, and you now ran into an issue where you only have one slot for your corner marker...thus making that $15 kick to the nuts even more insulting.
Why don't you send me the $15, I'll take a picture of you and photoshop it on richard simmons body... I'll be happy to take it from you since you're very eager to give money to make things uglier and ineffective.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">...alot. </TD></TR></TABLE>
For the record, two words "a lot".

bottom line, don't worry about corner markers... if they work and aren't broken, why mess with it? Spend the money on something useful.

No one prevented him from wasting it if he wanted, but he then posted about it on Honda Tech. It is to be expected that someone may give you some **** for doing so.
