Default A/C problem

OK, so now it decides to get hot lol. And lo-and-behold the A/C is not working.

I recharged the system to a full level but I don't think the compressor is engaging. All I hear with the car on full cold is the coolant fans engaging.

-My blower motor control also only works on the first four notches. On the fifth setting, the blower motor does not work.

-The A/C button when pressed does not light up at all.

What do you think it is or could be? I checked fuse nine on the kick panel fuse box and its fine, but is there a fuse that controls the A/C compressor that might be causing the problem?

Thanks.

If the a/c light doesnt come on it could be a bad switch or even a fuse.

I just recently noticed an A/C problem on my Prelude too. Possibly similar to yours. My A/C works when the A/C button lights up green ok. But there are times when it doesn't light up and only the fan works in this condition.
I've read somewhere that it's a 4th gen thing with the climate control board going bad and needs to be resoldered. (Not sure what exactly needs to be resoldered behind the A/C button) I haven't confirmed it yet but it sounds like a possible culprit.

The pins on the green plug need to be resoldered.

Do u hear the compressor click on? Look under the hood, and have somone press the A/C button, and make sure the compressor is engages and turns on.

I bet you its your switch dood. My switch is faulty as are lots of other's a/c switches.

Try forcing the AC botton in and HOLD IT in a bit hard (don't kill it though), and also try pushing it in and out lots of times. If it eventually lights up green than its your switch.

If that doesn't help diagnose the switch as the problem, pull your center counsol out with your thermostat/cooling controls and try to jumper the switch directly. If it fires up than it is your switch.

ALSO, heres a good test. Go to where your battery sits and with your ac on check your scope (site glass) thats inline with your AC line. Its a little square box with a view glass that you can watch your AC fluid flow. If the fluid isn't moving at all than your AC compressor might not be working. Either way, look at that view glass with system on, and report back to us.

Where is that sean? Is that behind your center counsol where your climate control stuff is?

That could be my intermittant switch problem as well. I assumed the switch's contacts are loose as are my power mirror's heated mirror button is.

That is correct. If there is no lights or intermittent working buttons then it needs to be repaired. If you need it done I can help.

Mine has this problem every once in a while and I thump the dashboard just above the switch... hard. That usually works

Eventually it needs to be resoldered

95 -- I thump the dash as well and it will light up after a thump or two. Obviously some connection problem -- as long as it continues to work, I'll not get into it. Taking the control panel off is a pain.

My light turns green and my fan turns on, I think that there is a valve between the hot/cold When I turn the AC on the hot air gets Cooler but its not cold. This makes me believe that my valve isn't closing off the hot air all the way. I'm getting like 60%hot 40%cold I want 100% FREEZE.

You guys understand?? Where is this Valve or duct located?
