So my hatch came with a b16, the previous owner ( my friend ) lol wen he had it, he beat ed on it daily... poor thing haha jk anyways after about a month or so i was in kent and i was " driving " and my car redlined at 6K! wtf! .. CAN ANYONE tell me whats wrong with it? ive heard a few things such as my internals and mayybe ecu and timing could be off but i just wanna know what everyone else thinks! thanks everybody for any imput that u may have added!

EDIT: i still need help. haha.. ive checked about everything everyone has listed for me to check. o2 sensor,cat, ecu ( well i didnt really check it i just made sure no wires were unplugged ) which there wasnt. And i think thats about it besides my oil. its just hella wierd man.

did a check engine come on? you may be low on oil and/or due for a oil change. that happen to a friend he lacked oil. happen to me once and cel came on for knock sensor, but went away in 20min it was off and drove normal.

 

If you caught a cell check it. My friends car had an early fuel cut problem and it happened to be a plugged injector. Check it out and report back

i havent even put on 1k miles on it sence i last did the oil change with full syn. new filter and everything. and its still doing the same ****, redlining at 5. ONE time i got lucky and hit 7k. what should i do? whats wrong???

 

Btw, theres also no checks no cel no nothing. and i have an si cluster.

hey, do you think that i could have that problem? but then agian, i got no checks, no cel. Could that possible happen even with the lights turning on?

It means there's something wrong with your motor there for it goes into limp mode so you wont blow your motor. double check everything/wiring...

haha i live in kent and i happen to know you dont just "drive through" it at night. you race through it. anyways sounds like an ecu problem. which one are you running?

 

im pretty sure stock ecu. i got it acually right in front of me. but i dont know how to identify it.

 

there is a white sticker and barcode on it... type the number on hre for us to see.

it might not hurt to check the light bulb in your cluster to see if the cel bulb is blown because it seems like you would have to be throwing a code for this to happen.

ok i just had this problem on about 5 cars in the last 3 weeks (gotta love Dumb *** friends) the first was a clogged CAT would only red line at 3800. No.2 and 3 were bad o2 sensors redlined at 4600 No.4 was glogged fuel filter and redlined at 5500 (also ran like *** at idle) No.5 was my car turned out i had a clogged fuel pump screen. tank was so rusty i had to get a new one plus Pump, cleaned injectors, purged fuel system and then i was able to get from 3800 redline to 5800 rpm after a new disty i was back to the good old 7600 i was used to.

and Not One of them had a CEL.


P.S. Dumping a bottle of crap in the tank is NOT i repeat NOT cleaning your injectors!!!! There ar little screens on the top of the injectors and if thay are clogged you need to replace the screens and get the injectors cleaned by a PRO.

i hit the **** out of my cat earlier today.started it and white smoke came out. but after like 5 mins it was coo.still couldnt redline though . im so pisted. do you think my head gasket has anything too do wit it. and i checked my o2 wiring, there fine.

 

what do i doo? ... im so stuck man. lol do you guys think it has ANYTHING to do with my valve trian? gimme more ideas on what to check out!.. i beat the **** out of my cat and all my piping just for fun. i plugged and unplugged my o2 sensor cable. now what?!?!?!?!?!?

Did you actually check your oil level? You said you just did an oil change, but did you re-check your level? You could be leaking.

 

yes, i just had recently did an oil change full syn. and i re checked it and it was fine. it was in between those two dots. and if it was leaking, it would show up in my garage correct? cus i didnt see anything leaking,havent been sence i got the car.
