OK, so my friend, Jo, bought a '96 hatchback from a dealership (Bob) and had an H22A sitting in his garage. So Jo told me that he would trade the EK with the H22 installed for my '00 Si with like 60k something miles. So Jo says instead of the dealer (Bob) transferring the title over to Jo, he will tell him to just transfer it to me because now I have the car. So I was like OK whatever.

Well one month has passed and I have no title. So I call the DPS and give them the VIN and they say some lady owns the hatch. WTF? OK, so I ask Jo, "WTF, I thought the title was in my name?" So Jo calls the dealer (Bob) and the dealer tells him there are still $200 in taxes owed on the car. So Jo tells me to pay him the taxes and (Bob) will give me the title! So I went to talk to the dealer (Bob) and told him how we traded and legally Jo bought the car from him, so Jo owes the money, not me. So the dealer (Bob) says, "It's OK. Here's the title. Have a nice day."

Well, Jo calls me and says, "You still owe the dealer (Bob) the $200." And I was like, "Um no?" And Jo goes, "OK well, I put the title in my (Jo's) name and when you (me) give me the $200 I'll give it to you." And I was like, "Sorry, I already have the title."

Well, because my car is on the verge of being done, I told Jo, "Look, I have my new distributor. If you put it on and make my car run, I'll give you $200." He says, "No, I'm gonna take the H22 back." So I go over there and sure enough they're dropping the engine. So I call the police because theres like five of them and one of me... Police gets there and to my luck he's a certified mechanic!!! So he says, "WTF are y'all doing? Blah blah blah..." And we tell him the story and Jo keeps going on about how I owe him money and the cop asks him who purchased the car from the dealership? Jo raises his hand and the cop says, "OK you owe the dealer because you should have paid the car off before trading it, and why the hell didn't you take the deal about giving (me) a running car for $200?" The cop tells Jo to put everything back or he's gonna get sued.

Pros: I have an H22 hatchback.
Cons: I lost a friend over $200.
... and had to go through all this crap.

well the hb is at my house now and all it needs is vtec wired up and my distrib wired

People can be ********, it's not the first friendship I've seen lost over something stupid.

Next time ur explaining something like this, use fake names...like "joe" and "bob" and **** - instead of "so my friend said this, so I called my friend and he told me that he had to pay him the money. So I called my friend back and told him that my friend said that he (who?) needs to pay him (??) the money."

That hurt my ******* head. Glad you got your **** settled. Sounds like your "friend" was a real good guy... still in the dark how supposedly owing someone 200 dollars means they take your entire H22 swap.

 

see he nvr finished paying off the car b4 he traded it to me and xpected me to pick up the tab

Bottom line is that he wasnt a true friend. My friends would never do **** like that, then again all my friends I have known since Jr High.

so do i just wire it to the original engine harness and it will go straight to my p28?

Search around for an untouched p28. I doubt asking your former-friend for that ecu back will do anything

 

no but im calling the cop that took the case and will show him the stock untouched ecu
i knew that whole cop= certified mechanic thing would come in handy

Lol, if he's willing to stab you in the back for unmentioned taxes that you don't owe, he's not a friend worth having. Seriously, if I had a friend try and bail on me like that, I'd have gone to jail for punching him in the back of the head while he was over the engine, and not gotten my H22 hatch from him.

Good for you on your win. Wierd how this was brought about by a cop, but I guess they're different in Texas. Here in California, he would have been like, "Fine, that's an illegal engine anyway, and since you're the one who wanted it, you owe $200, and more, because here's a smog ticket."

As for your recent situation, if you've got the time, you can/should have the police royally hassle the guy. However, this will put you on even worse terms with the guy.
