Default Turbo kit with Auto-Trans??

You guys think it's worth it getting a turbo kit, even for an automatic transmission?

why wouldn't it be? You'll still have a 60-80% increase in hp/tq

Honestly do you guys think just cause you have an auto the turbo doesn't do anything than? it will do the exact same damn thing as it does with a manual car just less hp/tq @ the same psi due to all the mechanics in the auto-transmission.

I think it would be better cause you can hold your boost longer without letting off the gas to shift.. just pork it and go.. IMO

there's nothing wrong with it...
just dont expect the tranny to last long.... more torque = more heat = more wear = poof.

be ready to buy numerous trannys. automatic trannys are notoriously bad and will probably break after only a few thousand miles.

auto trannies can be beefed up to handle the extra hp/tq... get a auto tranny, send it to TCI, get their overhaul kit, and youll be good to go. just expect to spend around 1k for it. but with that, youll be able to handle 200whp with the tranny with no problem.

you can send the tranny out to TCI as said below i think i've seen 1 or 2 people do that or buy an Overhaul kit which basically replaces the weak parts in the tranny

you can also just try a tranny cooler and whatever happens happens

I have a 05 civic auto tranny as well. I want to turbo charge but with a maual trans so I started searching salvage yards. found one with 22k miles for $550. So if you want to spend a bit more to be on the safe side, I dont think it would be a bad idea.

good luck

I've never messed with purchasing or installing a turbo... what kind of precautions/parts do you need to get before turbo-ing a d17, aimed for low boost?

hey, i have a 93 ls tubo and b4 u put the money into turboing it i would strongly recomend going 5 speed, mine sucks big *****.
if u want any jump off the line, u wont get any it falls on its face even with trying to boost off the line the 1st gear is to slow u have a while b4 u get any power, its wosst off the line then without the turbo cuz of turbolag and sucky 1st gear.

but on the good side if u can get the strength up and switch the gear it would be baddass.
cuz i have mone on 7 lb. and it drops to 5 lb when the gears switch and the right back to 7 so ur boosting the whole time.

just my 2 c

TCI makes a rebuild kit for 7thgen auto trans it cost like $300 and another $2100 to have someone install it. The kit will hold up to boost but at the extra cost not worth it imo but hey its a option you can take to make sure it will not go kaboom flogin the crap out of your car.And while your at it get a transmission cooler for another $150 just to keep temps cool the one built into the radiator is worth **** And of course now I saw that someone has already mention this what a day its been shesh

clutch pedal, brake pedal, clutch master cylinder, lines, Manual transmission, brackets, shifter cables, shifter assembly, etc.

there's probably a listing for parts and instructions somewhere...

its preatty common knowlege that honda auto trannies and boost do not mix.
honda auto transmissions are just too weak
