started using MaxLife 5w30 at around 110K miles. I change it every 3K and I'm now at 252K miles, does not burn any more oil than normal. It never loses more than 1/2 quart between oil change intervals.

I'd use any one of those that were mentioned. But I'd also add an oil stabilizer. Lucas Oil has one that minimizes leaks, and prevents dry starts, great for older engines.
Or... if you can, look up a product called prolong. Engine treatment fluids. Great stuff too. http://www.prolong.com

When I put 5w30 Sythetic blend, s I've got closer to my oil change (doing it today actually) morning startup is dry. I've got almost 2 seconds of valvetrain noise and no oil perssure, then as soon as the pressure needle shoots up, the noise is gone.

additives are all usually gimmics and garbage. Hondas have no problems going to 300k miles without any additives. It just takes regular maintainence.

But anyways, my GS-R's coming up on 160K and going in for a rebuild soon with some nice internals...but for now I'm using Royal Purple Synthetic. Good stuff.

i get some weird valvetrain noise too when i start it from cold..is it because there no oil pressure?

If it's not leaking or burning oil, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, assuming you can afford the cost of ~$30 per oil change, after tax, doing it yourself.

No, that's good. Synthetic has significant advantages; it's more resistant to breakdown when hot, and has better flow characteristics when cold. The only disadvantage is the higher price.
That's why I use synthetic in all my cars, including the GS-R with 165K miles on it.
