In need of some software for 3d modeling and design of various components...the catch= Free or cheap
I've checked out Zmodeler, but I can't get the newer version to install. I'd obviously like solidworks or Inventor....hell any of those good programs, I just can't make that type of investment now. I imagine there is someone out there that maybe can point me in the right direction or help me out so I can get up and working here.
PM me if you can help me out

I haven't used either of those, but I have used I-deas in a few classes...I liked that program. may not be what you're looking for...

Yeah, I've been looking at those torrent sites, but that stuff seems like a nightmare. I suppose I am gonna try to go to that limwire site on my other laptop....virus there and I won't lose anything valuable.
I'm after simple solutions...lol.

Limewire is the worst possible file sharing software out there. I've installed it before and my puter crashed within a week of the install. I thought it was a fluke and I nuked and reformated. Installed limewire again and the puter crashed again within a few days.
I've been using bitcomet for about a year and a half now without issue. Just virus scan your downloads but bitcomet its self runs great.
But I hope you aren't planning on selling anything that you are modeling in this software. If you are going to profit from the use ot the software, you should be paying for the software.

It's more for the benefit of learning the software and gaining some vision on personal projects. If it got to the extent to where I ran a business off of it, of course I would purchase a fully registered and supported version.
I have a guy local saying he has Solidworks 2003....would I be in any way very limited using this older version? I'm on XP...that shouldn't be an issue I assume.
i have autocad and solidworks. both are on CD's so i can try to overnight them on aim. i don't know how to make a torrent ( i dont know where to set up tracker
) so don't try and convince me. i'll double check my version #'s tomorrow

torrents are ALWAYS the best bet when it comes to apps. check the comments people leave so you know if its a clean DL or not... i use torrentspy.com with azureus vuze prog. virus free for over a year!
