I've had this for months now but just now took pics. Thought I'd share. The airbox is from TWM and I cut and attached my old ITR cai (3 inch)...

The purpose of the airbox is to provide protection but by attaching a cai tube, you're at least giving it colder air...It did restrict the airflow considerably though but it works for my application...which is to use it when I'm driving in the street..I take it off when I'm on the track.

Nah, I couldnt justify spending another $$ for dyno when I don't race with this set up...maybe on the next group dyno, I'll check it out.

If you're car is tuned right and itb matches with your set up? Sure, you can actually get better mileage. But in general, power and speed doesn't equate to less gas consumption. More power=more gas

Without dynoing there is no way of knowing if the box added or took away hp. I was interested in getting the TWM box or the carbon version for my DCOE 45 Webers, but I have heard mixed results for power.
I would without a doubt fully tune it on a dyno and compare it to the same open velocity stacks with a Pipercross or ITG filter style on it. I would also ditch the OEM ITR airbox. You are already providing "cooled" air to the ITBs with the TWM, the ITR box seems like it would just be adding friction to the airflow. Run an open filter shielded off with some sort of insulating material, and you probably won't gain or might even lose top-end power but will gain a good amount of midrange torque as compared to open stacks.

Yes but a more efficient engine makes more power with less gas, so you may only need 10% throttle versus needing 15% stock.

ITBs seem like a waste of money for a car that doesn't see a track....not that my opinion should matter for your car, I suppose this is just a fun car to DD right?

You misunderstood...My car is a designated racecar that see street use once or twice a month...I just don't race with the airbox on...

From: where i stunt SAND CANYON in Southern California
u can get filters for ur itb and keep ur sick throtel responce and u can get some dryer hoses from home depot and run it the same way ur cold air is from ur front bumper to ur itb and get cold air ! u should do it like that! gt rid of the box imo!
edit: even if it is a race car u still should get dryer hoses or something like that fron ur front bumper to ur itb's for colder air ! and u should always run filters on it never wide open because if ur at the track im guessing u road race... spin out in sand or something sucks it in it will b bad. i hope ur not drag racing with itb's lol hahhahahhhah !

wow, people complain that itb's don't take advantage of the helmholz (sp?) resonance theory, and so you have an airbox to do just that and now they say you won't make as much power.....? lol
i say dyno it both ways and let's see which makes more power and where...!

why wouldn't he want to drag race with ITB's?

why not?
but anyway, it looks like an autox car - hence SM for street mod.
i run my ef in DM with itb's too! and yes i run open without filters when on course.
To the OP: where did you get those overfenders? I need to get some like that..... for my 15x10's!

could you, if you have time, the next time you have the box off your car, can you take pics of it and the ITBs seperate?
How is the throttle responce in contests/ events? doing research on ITBs for my roadrace car....
