Cold Air Intake: AEM or Injen?
I'm going to buy a Cold Air Intake for my 05 SE Civic, but i'm stuck between AEM and Injen. And just to make sure i need one to fit a EX engine right???
Intakes are basically all the same.
They all produce minimal gains on our cars.
An AEM intake is going to produce the same sound and power as a generic eBay intake with a K&N filter.
I would say, buy the piping and a K&N filter for $40, beats $150+ for an AEM.

Also, what is the difference between the AEM and AEM V2? Also what is a Shortram? lol Sorry for all the questions i'm a noob when it comes to this.

AEM was the original. AEM V2 is the so claimed redesigned for even more power intake. Short Ram is the term for a short intake that doesn't go into the little hole where your stock air box resonator sits. Aka Cold Air Intake / CAI. Just buy a generic one and slap on a K&N filter. Don't waste your money, the results will just be the same. Their DYNO's are rigged.

Agreed the piping will aways be the same only diffrerence i would say is get the K&N filter.
only thing you are doing with Cold air is getting more air as you travel opposed to short ram.
i myself prefer the short ram just because i wont have to deal with getting a manifold or fabricating one in case it rains.

well yea obviously that is something you don't want to happen. But doesn't the CAI prevent water from getting in?

yeah somewhat your still gona need to get a manifold or something to protect it. water still splashes around when you drive. your tire may rotate fast and dispence the water out one way but theres always just a littple that piles up seeps through. especially if you have turbo.. turbo loves to suck air really fast. its been proven to shred cheapo deapo intakes.

a motor can take small amounts of water... its not like as soon as you suck in moisture your block will just fall apart.
a intake like that on a 06 SI is very similar to one on a Civic. i know because ive installed a CAI on a 06 SI not long ago and i have injens RD cai/sri. Its pretty well guarded and i dont see you getting large amounts of water sucked in unless you drive into a large amount of standing water. if you do then thats YOUR fault, not the intakes
