Default ► DIY: How to swap the EP3 seats to your EM2 properly.

So i picked up a pair on EP3 seats, and i kept reading that only 3 of out 4 bolts would line up. So what my buddy and I did was to swap the rails/brackets and he pan also. This was the only way that you can do this to have all 4 bolts line up, rather than just 3.
All the tools that you need, are 12mm,14mm and some scredrivers. You take off the seats, and you have to unplug the seat belt and SRS plugs that are under the seat. So once you have oyour seats off you place them upside down, and place them on top of a quilt or something like i did.
Here come the pics

From there, you start taking off the panels/covers on the side of the seat and also taking out the black bolts that are covered by those covers.

After you have take off the bolts, you should end up with something like this:

and this is the whole assemtly that must be transferred to the EP3 seats.

After that you align everying and bolt everything back and you should end up like this:

Its pretty straighfoward. took my buddy and I like 4 hours to complete. If you have any ?'S

Ok sorry to bring this back from the dead but I was just curious, would our stock EM2 seat mounts work for these Recaro Tuning Seat-Speed seats? If not anyone know where I can get some decently priced mounts that will work and fit our cars?

Im pretty sure that the stock rails will work. Maybe Recaro makes the rails for the EM2 or EP3's which will have to be modified to be mounted onto the EM2's

Yeah I looked for some actual Recaro rails but the only ones I found would cost like $300 to get the rails for both seats and I am not looking to spend all that kinda cash. I guess I will just get the seats and see if it will work, if anything I might just have to modify some stuff a little for it to be good.

Actually, the seat rails on the universal Recaro's are rather unique. I doubt that they're the same as the Type-R specific Recaro's.

Bride has seat rails that will mount to the Recaro's. They're fairly cheap.

I have a question. I just put my seats in by myself. Got it all done used the ep3 rails and plugs. no srs light works like a baby. one thing annoying the **** baggezus out of me.

My driver seat i got all 4 bolts in. I didn't even need to fight it. I just pushed the inside rail to the right a little after 3 bolts were in and i screwed the 4th in. Then i tightened them all down.

Here's the part that annoys me. I can't find the hole for the passenger side for the inside rail. Here's two pictures.
This picture u can clearly see a screw.

In this picture you can still see the screw. Where the **** is the hole?

I'm starting to think... is it possible that screw fell in there from the center console?

Have you tried to remove that screw? I don't recall having a screw in that hole, when I swapped in my Recaro's.

i haven't tried removing it. I didn't even put it in there! so i'm lost to how that got there. I clearly remember removing 4 screws when I took the passenger seat out. i know i'm not drunk or smoking.

i'm gonna find a magnet or see if some of my tools got a magnetic tip. will try removing it. maybe tmrw i'm tired.

ok. yeah it was a missing screw in my car that fell into the spot. I got it out and bolted all 4 screws in.

toyo do you think it's possible that the 4dr holes are different from the 2dr holes? because all 4 ep3 bolts bolt right in perfectly.

It's possible, but I would say it's unlikely. I've seen people swap sedan seats into coupes.

I don't know what to tell you, bud. I'm not overly familiar with EP3's.
