Wire the VTEC solenoid and VTEC pressure switch to the pins on the ECU. You don't need to wire in the knock sensor since you don't have one.

You can get the p06 chipped for vtec.

You can use an automatic P28, but you will throw a CEL for the automatic transmission lockup solenoid, you can convert the ECU to a 5 speed quite easily though, see pic below

No. Automatic D16Y8s have a different Intake compared to the manual version. All others are the same regardless of transmission.

ok i need a lot of help and i have a lot of ?'s. sorry. i have a 98 civic coupe which im assuming is obd2a. i bought the car with no motor and the wiring harness to the engine cut. im dropping in a 0bd1 b16 with gsr cams and so im going to run an obd1 p72 ecu. ive got a jumper harness for the ecu to plug in the car. the car was origonally a d16y7 so i have to run the vtec wires to the ecu. so can i just splice the vtec wires into the jumper harness? ive got an old gsr obd1 harness that i will b using the injector dizzy and alternator plugs. will the wires match up to a d series obd2 civic engine harness?im going to solder all the connections at the cut point and use shrink wrap. i just want to make sure the extra sensors on the d series that wont b hooked up will not effect the way the motor runs.
And the ultimate question... is there an easier way to do this that wont cost me hundreds of dollars just to hook everything up?

thank you and please help!!!! i dont want to use the guess and check method on this one.

any help will b appreciated
