Simple question: How do you turn off the "maint' required" light??????
This may be a dumb question, but I just got the car....
so its its yellow, flashed when you first started the car then wnet off.Now it stays on.From a 97' Civic I had if I remember right, its just a basic reminder light for regular service. But I don't know how the heck to turn it off.
Aprecciate the feed back guys!

Re: Simple question: How do you turn off the "maint' required" light?????? (Civiclized)
Alright- about five second after posting this I found the answer:
For 98-01 accords:
1. For the first 6000 miles after completion of scheduled maintenance and indicator light reset, the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED reminder light will illuminate when ignition is turned on, and then will go out after 2-10 seconds.Between 6000 and 7500 miles, the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED reminder light will flash for 10 seconds, and then will go out. After exceeding 7500 miles without having scheduled maintenance performed, light will remain on until it is reset.
2. When service has been completed, reset M.R. light. To reset light, turn ignition off.Press and hold SELECT/RESET button. On Accord, button is located on right side of instrument cluster.
3. While still holding buttons, turn ignition on with engine off.Hold button for 10 seconds until indicator resets.
Hope this helps someone out!

This wasn't what I was on here for but it helped. My light was on but I was worried about it because I knew the car had it's maintenance done, just not by a shop. So like I said, not what I was here for, but it helped. TY

The last post was in July of 09, so it has only been 3.5 years since this was active.
Anyway, I had this problem last week and needed my Maint Required light reset. That's when I came across this site. I always find videos where someone shows how to do it more helpful than than written instructions. So I posted it here.
I figured it would help others that search for the answer in the future. This applies to Honda's up to 2005 and there are plenty of them still out there. I have a 2001 accord and a 2003 accord and it worked for both of mine.
Since I own 2 Honda's, I joined the site. This seems like a good place to get help and help others. I didn't realize it was also a place to question the help offered by others. I apologize if my response was not helpful to you. But it may help someone else.
Thanks
