time attack last wednesday
Got the chance to get out of the office last Wednesday ... the weather was perfect out at buttonwillow. Super Street time attack this year looked like it had a larger turn out from last year. Couple of honda fits out there w/ k series ... not as many S2000 this year. Let me know if you want original photos ... dont' worry ... no charge ... just the images are large files.

Top few results from 2005's event: http://www.superstreetonline.c...tack/
Place Car # Team Driver Car Overall Best Time Class Toyo RA1
1 12 GM Performance Division John Heinricy 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS 01:51.318 Unlimited FF
2 50 Import Car Tuner Vesko Kozarov 2004 Mitsubishi Evo 8 01:52.561 Unlimited AWD
3 1 Signal Auto Eiji Yamada 2000 Nissan Skyline GTR 01:53.021 Unlimited AWD
4 25 C-West Naofumi Omoto/Eiji Yamada 2000 Honda S2000 01:53.147 Unlimited FR
5 37 Red Hot Yoshinobu Koyama 2002 BMW CSL 01:54.689 Unlimited FR
6 48 Works Eiji Yamada 2005 Mitsubishi Evo 8 01:55.007 Limited AWD
Heinricy's overall win last year was impressive. Granted it was full blown manufacturer backed with best of everything... the sheer speed is still worth noting for a FF car.
Hasport's Unlimited FF 4 door Integra ran 1:55.585 last year, this year it has not gone faster; slightly slower at 1:55.881 actually. I would imagine the car was suppose to go faster this year?!
This year's overall winner looks like a 996 cup car?! If that's the case, I wish Porsche had sent a 997 Cup car to show what it is capable of. 997 cup cars are quite a bargain it seems... on the bigger scale of things.

I think that it was probably a GT3 cup car that has 06 WC GT updates. but i couldn't be 100% sure

Of course, so that rr/ax people can give a crap, the HC records from hondachallenge.com:
H1 Ryan Flaherty Acura Integra Type R 2:00.233 10/08/05
H4 Edik Stepanyan Acura Integra 2:03.346 10/09/05
not sure if those are qualifying or race records. But I saw this recently:
qualifying 10/15/06 H1 Bernardo Martinez 1:59.887 5 90.085
and H4 might've dipped into 2:02.x so to put it in perspective, H1 and H4's are pretty fast!

Two things: 1:55 in a frickin' Jetta is pretty damn cool. And Frank Lin is apparently still driving on track somewhere. For a company. That just cracks me up.
I also like how apparently the HC guys can run faster laps than these "professionally" prepared shop cars.

034 Motorsports had 3 cars, and the Jetta is basically WC car with bigger tires and raised boost. I thought it was an AWD car though, not FF?!?!?! I could be wrong on the last part. WC Touring cars are several seconds faster than H1 times.
Katman: great job. SO CLOSE you could've been 2nd! Just 3/10th you would've been runner up...

Millers WC jetta is FF
I don't really see why you made the comparission though Bernardo's integra was boosted for the event also. (according to Jmac)

Just an FYI, Chad Slagg has been putting the Smack down in Time Attack Mode out east with his H1 prepped car as well. Honda Challenge cars are fast. PERIOD!!
I heard that in Redline Time Attacks you don't even have to have a 6pt roll cage. Talk about weight savings, I don't think there is a minimum weight for limited FF either. Drop 100lbs off Hartanto's or Slagg's car and they would have destroyed the feild that is posted above in limited FF.
"What I've said here is without knowing, seeing or in anyway, a representation of a team or driver that was in the Super Street Time Attack event."

the 5 zigen Accord R has the K20 motor in it and was still competitive .... interesting.
feel this chassis and k24 motor combination has lots of potential ... will the US market pick up on this? Talking to Pierre ... he stated that this chassis is one of the best he has been in. Sorry it's late and just having a little Jim Beam and H2o
Have fun!
