Default Prestige APS-996A

I know this kind of a longshot but i need to find an expert on this alarm. or just someone who understands it. when i got this installed on my 94 integra, the guy just programmed it and that was it. ive had some things i want to change however that i know this unit can be programmed to do because ive seen the alarm on other cars. stuff like, not chirping when i remote start it, or having the radio turn on when i remote start, and even illuminated entry etc...

can anyone help me? ive read the installation manual and i think im going to give it a shot in programming but i just wanted to check here because i have no idea what im doing. i dont understand what the feature names mean. as in i dont get what its telling me it will do, on Setting 1 or Setting 2 etc

Sorry just got back.
As long as you connected the acc., [yellow] the radio will work, if it's on when the ign. is turned off.

Can't find a manual for the 996, but the 997 should be the same, to get "dome light supervision" you will need a relay to supply a ground to the same wire as the door trigger wire is connected to and use the green/white from the 996 to control the relay.

Chirp "defeat" is in your programing, in the install manual... http://www.audiovox.com/webapp...Id=-1 94

thanks man, that souds pretty easy and i figured the chirp thing would be as easy as reprogamming. im gona give it a shot when i get my car from the booth.

one more question tho. about the yellow accessory wire...is that the wire from the radio that you're talking about? or should there be an acessory on the alarm unit? or both? i remember there being an acessory wire on the radio but where should that go? to the alarm unit?

just for the sake of livening up the thread, heres apicture of my car

The alarm/remote start has an acc. output, [purple] for powering up the heater/blower, [on a g2 that is the yellow lead in the ign. harness] the HU also gets it's acc. power from there.

Does the heater/blower work when the remote start is running the car? 94

You will need a either a SPDT, [single pole double throw] or a SPST, [single pole single throw] the most common one used for alarms and remote starts is the SPDT and can be found at any auto parts or car audio/security shop, here is a bit of info on the SPDT relay... http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp
The reason you need a relay is because to output from the alarm on the green/white wire is a low current ground, [probably around 250mA] the dome light circuit needs 3A-5A, [12- 20 times the current] the relay will handle up to 20A-30A of current.
Wire relay like this... http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page4.asp#ien with green/white going to 86, 30 goes to the same place as the door trigger wire, and you can get 12V+ from the 12V+ constant power free pin on the under dash fuse box. 94
