Default Help: Swapping 92' F22 to H22

Hi, sorry this may be a noob question or been already asked, but I couldn't seem to find the answer to my question.

I was wondering exactly what is needed to swap to the H22 from the F22? I was looking at sites such as hmotorsonline.com and I was thinking if I needed to get the COMPLETE swap? or just the motor, tranny, computer, etc. Here's the link to both.

Complete Swap

Incomplete Swap
http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30015

I was also wondering if there are any cheaper trustworthy places to buy the swap? Also to have a JDM engine, would it be smog legal? If not, is there any places I can get a USDM engine to pass smog? Also does anyone know estimate average prices shops charge for the swap and labor? Thanks!

search dude....

since youre going from f22 to h22, im assuming you either have a 4th gen lude s or an accord, based on that....

you dont need the complete swap, get the one thats $1950 (or $2250 w/ lsd tranny which is recommended if available), make sure you also buy a downpipe as well, it does not come with it and the f22 will not work (assuming you are not going to get an aftermarket header), i believe its only like $50 extra, you will be reusing your stock intermediate shaft, axles, shift linkage, and most mounts, if you have 90-93 accord, use all accord mounts, 94-97 accord, use accord rear tranny and front mount and the prelude driver side mount (it will have to be cut a bit to fit but not a big deal), if you have a 92-96 lude im not too sure, but i believe its the same as the 90-93 accord

there are cheaper places, people here on HT, and ebay, but cheaper can mean problems, HMO is pretty much respected by everyone to be one of the best and are very good with prices, i got my motor there and would get another one there if i needed it

yes a jdm engine will pass smog easily, even in california, engine just has to be same year or newer than the chasis (although this is rarely verified, so a 92 h22 in a 95 lude really isnt a big deal at all) and all usdm smog equipment must be used, most of the f22 stuff can be used, but the map sensor and evap purge control solenoid from the h22 will need to be obtained, before buying anything extra though, i would take it in once swapped as they might just pass it and not care that you are using f22 stuff instead of the h22 stuff, save a few $$$, the smog stuff below is what you need to make sure is hooked up and hooked up correctly

lastly, make sure you change your timing belt, balancer belt, water pump, front main seal, cam seals would be a good idea, the cap on the dist side of intake cam, balance seals, valve cover seals/gaskets, and anything that needs it, also, switching from the autotensioner on the h22 to the manual tensioner on the h23/f22 would be wise, if still in good shape, the tensioner stuff on your f22 could be swapped over, search and you will find the instructions, also the clutch and flywheel would prolly be a good idea

not necessary but may be a good idea, i had some leaking valve seals when i got the motor, but didnt do anything about it and it was the reason i was failing smog, with the engine already out of the car, it may not be too bad an idea to pull the head and have a valve job done

as for install, $500 is the max someone should be paid for this, it is really pretty simple to do, hardest part is the wiring and the fuel line, otherwise, pretty easy to do, if they will be pulling the head and installing new timing belt and clutch and etc. also then price will be higher...

that was a lot longer than i was planning...
