Default Autoworks CRX build log (version 2) DOHC ZC T

Thought I'd make a progress log. After selling my old one I found antoher CRX, this one will not be a B Series. I decided to stay D based and use the DOHC ZC. First we had to handle the terrible body work. I picked it up in pretty rough shape.
After the body work...

had to cut out alot of old bondo, and get rid of the single stage paint.

I started on the motor work while it was getting the body work done. I couldn't do much, but it was in the shop for 3 months so knick knack stuff was knocked out
DOHC ZC, I am using the NRG FPR, made a bracket to hold that and the HPBC

The intake and header are coming off.
Cut the bumper for the FMIC fitting while it was there too

Also did the battery install. Removed the tray and used the Odyssey PC680MJT with the Odyssey bracket. The terminals are Lightning Audio, they worked fine in my last CRX so I figured why not use them again.

I started to piece together my kit, basing it off the SOHC TDO4 156G Greddy kit, which should be a good match for the ZC.
I swapped the exhaust housing from the Greddy cast piece to the tubular stainless piece with the new downpipe.

I first picked up the Avid traction bar, but decided to go with the Innovative.

Whats your honest opinion on the innovative?? Would you rather have the full-race?? I am trying to decide what traction bar I should get. I would love to get the Jim-Fab bar but from what I hear its no going to work with my application. I have a b16b with Hasport mounts and a DC JDM type r 4-1 header. Word around town is the Jim-Fab bar will not work with the Hasports and the 4-1 headers!

Today 4/12/06
Began actually fitting the turbo...the manifold doesn't just fit. The right corner touched the block before sitting flush so out came Mr. Dremel.
Before.

During (dremeled)

yes it slipped on me a few times

After

It was getting dark. The WG hit the rad. fan so it had to come out. I'll be picking up a slim one. I also have a TB and manifold at Maxbore right now so I hope to have it back early next week. I'll connect the oil feed and swap the mani then.

Honestly, I love it. The fit was perfect. Full Race was my 2nd choice. This bar was less expensive and I liked the fact that it came with a location for a front torque mount, would work with a full or half radiator, used the stock radius arms, and had the poly inserts. It replaces the tow hooks as well. Install was easy. My only complaint is that it does sit a little low, but still clears 99% of the time, which is no big deal to me because I don't ride dumped anyway. The radius rods sit perfectly parallel to the ground and steering is much tighter. It almost snaps the steering wheel back up to 12 o'clock. The whole front just felt more solid after the install...other than the fact that minus the front torqque mount just made me realise how worn out my other motor mounts were. I ordered the Energy mount inserts to help cure that. I also talked to Innovative last week and they told me the D series front torque mount should be out very soon and I am first on the list to get one

The ZC is definately nice, more than I expected. I did a JRSC/Mini Me project back in 01', but abandoned it and went turbo before I finished. Sold the Y* head and got scammed/ripped off on my JRSC thru mf'n Ebay and some conman in Hawaii
The tune will be on Turboedit. We've already socketed the ECU and I sold my DSMs and picked up some Precision 450 injectors. I plan on installing them with the new manifold if all goes as planned. I'm going to have to run a basemap for the first day or so when just cranking so I can make it to the Dyno (which is only about 3 miles away).
I'm working on mine right now in between refinishing a set of wheels for a customer, so tonite I hope to get the rest of the header/cat off. And may swap the radiator out.

Got my mAd Tyte USDM bumper lenses straight from Japan...I mean Keystone

I also removed the turbo to install the oil drain and got the lower portion of the header out. I hope to have the oil pan dropped and drained tomorrow evening.
