my h22 swap in eg hatch, i can't hear vtec but i can feel the car pull around 5000rpm... should i be able to hear vtec kick in? i have stock header, stock intake with cone filter and 2 inch exhaust with s2000 muffler (very quiet) ... should i be able to hear vtec engaged?

 

I hear and feel my vtec.....every honda I ever rode in that had vtec I could hear, even stock ludes.

 

i hear it in my sisters lude...

but in accords and civics (not Si's) i dont really hear it as much if at all...


if you have an h22 i would think you should be able to hear it tho

My bud has an H22 in his EG hatch, and while he has a straight-through design exhaust, his is VERY audible.....MUCH louder than any H22 in a Prelude I've ever heard.

Yes, it should be easy to hear it kick in at 5500.

 

hm ill probably check the wiring on it today... whats the quickest way to check to see if the vtec-solenoid is working?..

 

Pull the connector from the VTEC solenoid, stick a wire's end onto the + side of the battery, then touch the other end of the wire to inside the solenoid's clip. The solenoid should click if it's still good.

 

click click good solenoid but still can't hear vtec but can still feel the pull around 5000 ish RPM..... should you feel an increase of power if you have no vtec? my butt dynoe feels the torque but my ears hear nothing but engine or is what i'm feeling the torque of the motor and not vtec?

 

I don't know if can actually "hear vtec", but you should at least hear a change in the way the the motor sounds. I'd say the vtec is working if you feel the motor kick around 5k. also, you might hear more of a differecne depending on what you have for an intake.

 

i dont think its as loud as b-series with similiar mods

but any car ive heard that has vtec ive heard it my cousin jsut swapped a gs-r in his 93 coupe and you can hear vtec.

 

When I was non turbo in my h22 eg, I could definately hear vtec. My vtec kicked in at about 5300 rpm's though. Vtec would hit so hard that the car would squat. In a hb you should definatelty feel it at least. Does it start to pull hard around 5000 and up?

 

Seems like you can hear vtec out the exhaust on H22's better than through the intake. Maybe thats just my car though. Cause my intake is pretty loud too.
