Ya strip the paint off first. Then if your wheels are in good condition I would start sanding with 120 grit with a mini da sander like this one: http://www.mactools.com/product/tabi...on-sander.aspx

Then I would go up to 240 grit and then 400 grit. And then after that get some polishing compound and start polishing.

If you're doing it by hand though, then you would have to do 120, 180, 240, 300, 400, 800, 1200, 2000 and then mothers polish.

i wasnt asking how to polish any wheel in general. i was asking about RPF1s. the process is different with different wheels. for ex. stock wheels have to be sanded while most rotas can just be stripped. im asking this question to people who have done it on RPF1s only. thanks.

The finish on the RPF1's is not machined smooth underneath the color, so you'll have to do some sanding to get a polished smooth surface after you remove the finish that's on them.

I can tell you this much to get into the crannies on those wheels and get an even mirror finish get ready to spend a lot of time sanding and polishing.I am going to say if you are worried about what you are going to get into get them done proffesionally.

I actually was just polishing my rims last night. Their stock honda rims granted but I went from 100 grit all the way to 1200 grit and they look nice. If you want them to come out nice, you might be better off using sand paper, it looks pretty nice.

I only finished the one so far but if you want i can throw a pic on later.

X2. Absolutely. Work on a broken/scrap wheel before you tackle a mirror finish polish job for the first time. It is VERY difficult and VERY time consuming. My last set had a good 10 hours in each one.

Bro, if you do get around to polishing your "rpf1's" they will be sick as fawk. Good Luck with your research on finding out what you need. Text me some pics when you get done with them, if you decide to tackle the process!
