What is offset?
The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. It determines how much the wheels stick out from the car. The best offset depends on your particular car as well as on the width of the wheels. As a general rule, you *should* be able to get away with an offset between +35-45, but you will have to check what others have used for your car's year, model, and version to be sure. Yes. And, indeed, by 1/2". Since the wheel is an overall inch wider and the measurement for the offset is from the center of the wheel, you have to divide the width change in half.
