Default tire size help

so i just got me some Buddy Club P1 racing SF rims, they are 15''x6.5'' and are going to be put on my CRX which has a 2.5'' drop and a front/rear camber kits, so anyways the question is, Whats a good tire width thats not going to scrub or anything? i was told a 205/50 would be perfect but i just wanted to double check and see if anyone had any opinions. thanks

The rim width range on the 205/50-15 is 5.5" to 7.5", so you're safe as far as fitment on the wheel.

As for fitment on the 1988 CRXsi, the size we recommend is the 195/50-15 and that would fit without any issues on a vehicle that is bone stock. With a 2.5" drop and a camber kit, I'm not sure the 205/50-15 would fit.

Yup. Stick with 195/50-15.

As a general rule, tires generally don't rub if they are approximately equal to the outer diameter of the stock tire size (preferably within 1 percent) and if they are no more than 20 mm wider than the stock tire size. You have that with 195/50-15, and you don't have that with 205/50-15. On a lowered car, your chances of rubbing are even greater.

Stick with 195/50-15.

Incidentally, that is the only 15" size we guarantee fitment on that vehicle.

Why not a 215/45?? Same height as a 195/50, and with a 6.5 +42, the 215/45 will fit without rubbing.

Maybe because it's an extremely rare size, with almost no tires available in it. Total number of tires that size sold by the Tire Rack: ZERO. So there's no need to guarantee fitment for a tire size that they don't sell. Ya think?

In fact, the only tire I know of in 215/45-15 is the Toyo T1R. Aside from the fact that it's not that great a tire and won't give you anywhere near as much traction as extreme performance tires like the RE-11 or R1R in 195/50-15, it's also ridiculously expensive in that size. So there's absolutely no reason to buy it, unless you just like wasting your money.

Or unless he would like to run something other than a 195. I enjoy my T1-R's, they are a good tire and deliever good dry AND wet weather performance. Why would you compare them to a R1-R anyway??

I wouldn't. I would compare them to the Yokohama S.drive, which is little more than half the price in 195/50-15 ($65 at the Tire Rack), with better performance. I've seen prices of $120 and more for the T1R in 215/45-15. Why would you waste your money on the T1R, anyway? That's a lot more money to spend just to get some bling bling.
