The Dunlop FM901 is in the category of "bang for the buck", "budget performance" summer tires. Like others in this class of tire, they offer decent performance at a bargain price. But I think you can do better for your money.
This category has seen a lot of new introductions in the past few years. A couple of years ago, Yokohama introduced the AVS ES100 tire, which was in the same bargain price category but offered significantly better performance than other such tires available at that time, including the Dunlop FM901, the Kumho Ecsta 712, etc. This "raised the bar", if you will, and other manufacturers saw that they would lose sales to Yokohama unless they developed tires that could compete with the ES100. Now, Dunlop has introduced the Direzza DZ101, which is significantly better than the FM901, and Kumho has introduced the Ecsta SPT, which is significantly better than the Ecsta 712. I'm sure that the FM901 and the 712 will be phased out as these new, improved models become widely available.
If I were buying 205/45-16 tires today, I would buy the Kumho Ecsta SPT ($78) or the Yoko ES100 ($82) instead of the FM901. Significantly better performance than the FM901 for almost the same price.

I've owned them...a few years back when they first hit the market.
Overall, I was impressed for the price. I took them out to Nelson Ledges (2 mi, 13 turn road course) for an open track day and put over 50 laps on them. Very predictable, and they held up well for a street tire. In fact, I met a guy from H-T.com (illwill) out in San Diego at the Hot Import "Days" show a couple weekends back who uses the FM901's on his B16 EG hatch that he takes to button willow frequently...his hatch was in the June issue of "import racer" magazine.
On the street, the tire corners well in the wet and dry. Wet traction is decent, not nearly as impressive as Eagle F1's I've owned in the past, but for the price they are good. Ride was comfortable...I can't comment about mileage because I only had mine on for a year before I demo'd some other tires on my car
Don't forget, there is a $50 mail-in-rebate on those Dunlop's right now, if that helps w/your decision.
Let me know if you have anymore questions
Thanks,
Matt
