Time to replace my Toyos, looking for options
Hey guys, like the title says, my Toyo Proxes4 are almost fully worn after two summers (6 month runs each) of daily driving. (often very spirited.) Before those, I owned a set of Proxes T1Rs. I was really happy with with both sets but don't really have anything else to compare them to.
I'm kind of budgeting my next set to be around the same price as the Proxes4, which I was able to get for $115 per tire. Is there any other candidates, specifically better tires that I can get for that price range?
I'm certainly not married to the Toyo brand, but was considering them again as I enjoyed them a lot.

The Proxes 4 were some of the worst tires I've ever ran (that claimed to have performance). Poor dry traction, terrible temperature tolerance, lackluster wet traction, and high road noise. Their only redeeming quality was a soft, comfortable sidewalls, that was probably the primary contributor to poor response.
But, why run an all season tire for the summer? If you want performance, run a proper summer tire.

T1R is pretty much top of the line from toyo for street tires but are on the expensive side. you can't go wrong with the S.drives. other choices like falken and even some of the hankook are very good bang for the buck. if i were you, i won't go back to the proxes 4, there are better options out there.

based on quite a few reviews, the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport comp-2 seems to be very promising for its price range and I think I'm going to go with those.
Anyone have experience with the BFs vs s.drives? they're only $10 more per tire than the yokos... worth it?

If you go with a 205/50/15, prices actually come down a little, depending on the tire. Also, I'm guessing that you have a set of winter tires, or another car, since you live in Canada? For all dry driving, I'd say go with a set of ZIIs or RE-11a's.
I typically drive it from late April to early November. It rains often here on the east coast so I want to be sure the tires will be up to the task to deal with the wet early summers here. Late summers here are usually dry so it would be nice to have a balance.
I have had good luck with nitto neogens but then again I am in fl and my car never sees the white stuff
And they are about 93$ a tire with good handling

I looked at it and I think it's just a tier above what I should be looking at given my less-aggressive setup:
- KYB AGX adjustable struts with H&R Sport springs
- EG/DC front subframe to accomodate K-swap
- Whiteline EG/DC front 24mm solid sway bar w/energy endlinks
- OEM rear Si/SiR/EL 13mm sway bar, soon to be 19mm UltraRacing
I ended up ordering the BFG sport comp-2's this morning which seemed better for daily duties + spirited weekend drives. I'll write a review on the new setup and the feeling from switching from the Toyos.

I have the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport comp, which they don't make anymore, and those tires have some awesome traction. For as much as I spin them :X, they don't wear very fast. I love them
In your size, the BFG Sport Comp2 or the Dunlop Direzza zII would be great, with the Yokohama S.Drive a half step down.
